My participation has declined. It's going to take awhile to get used to the new software and figuyout the best way for my use. I just don't go there often enough anymore to make it a priority.

The software here in our forum is easier to use than the new stuff over there. The only new thing there that is good is the way to post photos.

I still participate there, but I do not like the new format. It is just not the same, but that's life.

For the way I browse the forum, there is very little difference, and a lot of minor tweaks I appreciate.
Felt odd for a day or so, at most.

BTW, I like...
1) How your icon shows as a small thumbnail next to the poster's icon in list views when you've participated in a thread. Very clever and draws your eye in a very non-intrusive way.
2) The way large quoted text blocks get truncated, with the option to "Click to expand..."
3) The way it automatically recognizes YouTube links.
4) The way it seems to automatically scale down huge photos to fit.
Right now, I think it's the best forum software of the handful of forums I use. Incidentally, the COPA site is by far the worst, IMHO.

What a joke that forum became.
I can see why they would have to have threads attacking free speech, since they don't allow any over there, unless you do so within very strict parameters, which isn't free speech at all.

I just posted to suggest POA put up a sticky to us so they won't have to deal with frustrated posters over there who really want to get political but can't. Seems like it would save the mods some time, but whatever.

I like some of the new functionality. I don't like the graphic presentation.
And as far as that thread "bashing" this site; The most valid point in that regard was the name calling of Mari as being a dyke. Even if it is true; so what?

Crab stuffed tilapia, steamed mussles, a tasty white wine, and a lovely cheesecake for dessert, and I'm still full. I may be too old for that much food now, but I don't regret it yet. ;)

Thanks for the welcomes--and to sort of halfway provide input on the actual topic of the thread, something I like about both this and the POA sites is that when you go to upload an avatar, you don't have to screw around and resize to something like 100x100 or 150x150 like a couple other boards. You can upload an actual photo, move it around and be done. Handy.

The new layout definitely takes getting used to. I much prefer what we have here. ...no locking of threads just because someone gets their feelings hurt. Heavy moderation kills forums and I hope they figure that out.

Mark, it was not required as a part of the conversation. It was simply a shot taken at Jeff. This is from part of the group that complained about the SZ.

Meh...I don't care about any shots taken at me.
EDIT: I just went and looked (haven't been to POA for a bit), and that "shot" was even more of a nothingburger than I could have imagined.

I wasn't equating anything. I was referring to the disparaging comments that POA folks were saying about us here back in January when they were bidding good riddence to us racist rabble rousers. They rend to paint with an extremely broad brush.
