I am registered as a "declines to state party" (or something like that) here in California, which allows me to vote in the democrat (but not Republican) primary. I would ordinarily never vote for a democrat, of course, but I hate to pass up an opportunity to do damage if there is one. I can think of two approaches:
1) vote for the candidate who would be the most benign if he won (Biden?) or
2) vote for Sanders, since many think he would lose big against Trump.
I am not very politically astute, so I would be interested in hearing the opinions of others.

Warren or Klobachar are two huge losers.

I almost posted this exact question the other day but ended up taking the Republican ballot because of other things on it. The Democrat ballot was quite horrific with some unreal “propositions”. I was torn. (I voted early.)

Losers in the primary or the general? I think my ideal democrat is someone who could win the nomination, but be guaranteed to lose in the general election.

All around losers. I'm still betting on a brokered convention.

I wonder if some democrats are fantasizing the West Wing democrat convention...

Funny you should say that. At my uber liberal book group on Monday, they were waxing eloquently and longingly, with stars in their eyes and plentiful sighs, for just such a thing.

Glen Allen Walken would wipe out any of clowns running today
Matt Santos might, depending on how crazy are all the dead voters for the DNC
Head to head would be interesting, but we are a long long loooong way from having functioning adults running.

It's really hard to tell at this point. Tough question to answer. I don't think Bernie can beat Trump, but I never underestimate the LOONS in every metro area around the country, especially on the coasts.

Bernie... shaking my head.
Here's what he says about marijuana legalization which of course is something I side with the liberals on.
Bernie: Marijuana should be legalized.
Me: Yes!
Bernie: And everyone in prison for just marijuana offenses should be released immediately
Me: Yes!
Bernie: And medical marijuana needs to be available for sick people
Me: Yes!
Bernie: And government should help blacks, hispanics and native Americans to grow and sell marijuana.
Me: ...........
Bernie: Big companies shouldn't "control" the marijuana market
Me: So me as a white person can't get government help to start a marijuana business because of the color of my skin? Or a black person isn't able to make his business into a "big" company? Or can do anything without government handouts?
This is the problem with liberals. They can’t support a social freedom without imposing an authoritarian structure on it and just ruining the whole thing.

Just look at California. The legal marijuana industry is so heavily regulated and taxed that underground dealers are easily able to undersell.

Yep, the left isn’t actually about your freedom wrt drugs. It uses that to get votes, but in reality they still want to control everything having to do with it. The left is about power and not much else. Well, money, for them.

Exactly. It is all about government control and taxation. I believe most drugs should be legalized and the law enforcement war against drugs dismantled. Bernie is just a totalitarian communist.

Is there such a thing as non-totalitarian communism? It doesn’t seem logically possible.

Marijuana legalization is an underhanded grab for guns. If you use controlled substances, you aren't allowed to own guns. I don't see them removing that stipulation if it's legalized on the federal level. If you use it now in a state that has legalized it, buy a gun, and mark "No" filing out the forms, you have now committed a felony.

True! Kenn Blanchard did a podcast on that. People with a medical marijuana card are being denied CCW permits and whatnot.

actually, while you may have committed a felony, it is my understanding you won't convicted of said felony because you cannot be made to testify against yourself. It's a strange twist, but...

Thinking back though, I’m sure it varies by state, but at least in the states I’ve been in, there were no restrictions for medically approved use of legally prescribed controlled substances. There were questions about being an addict or having a history of drug abuse, but not simply being prescribed painkillers or other mind altering legal medicines. The training classes involved using judgement about being impaired, but did not specifically say you couldn’t exercise your rights with firearms if you were taking medication under a doctor’s orders. (Alcohol was different, if you drink, you don’t carry, period.)
In fact, there are many drugs, including over the counter drugs, such as Benadryl, that could badly impair your judgment and performance in using a firearm or driving a car or operating machinery. The approach is always, if you are impaired or unsafe for any reason, you don’t carry, or drive, or whatever. But there are controlled drugs that can be taken under certain circumstances that do not impair you, for example, low dose maintenance painkillers, or anti-anxiety medications such as Xanax, in very low therapeutic doses, in which it doesn’t impair, it removes anxiety without noticeable effects on things like physical reflexes and judgement. In fact that’s the window you aim for if you’re doing it right. You take these drugs to be more functional, not less.
The warning labels always say do not drive or operate machinery while taking this drug until you know how it effects you. As far as I know no firearm permit says you can’t carry this gun if you took a Benadryl for your allergy. It says you can’t carry if you feel you are unsafe or impaired. Some lucky people don’t get sleepy on Benadryl. I would think medical marijuana should be treated the same.

All they need to convict is an ATF agent to explain the law and the form. And then the FFL you went through to testify it was you who filled out the form. And then someone from the DMV to testify that the drivers license the FFL made a copy of was yours.

No, you are right, there is no such thing. My statement was redundant. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have said socialism, and communism become totalitarian oppression, always.

And when they figure out the economics is unsustainable, they ditch that part just enough to function, and keep the totalitarian oppression.
Actually, there has never been a pure communist state, strictly speaking, where “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need” was followed. In all cases, money and goods flowed “to” those with the power, and “from” those least able to give, until they starved.
