Spin Zone / What's the difference?
« on: April 17, 2018, 11:27:58 AM »
Chances are it could happen again. A second administration official noted that "we have seen a consistent pattern of the Syrian regime resorting to the use of chemical weapons." The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, told the Security Council on Friday that the US assesses that Assad "has used chemical weapons in the Syrian war at least 50 times."
Nevermind that the assertion of at least 50 times cannot be substantiated.

What's the (legal) difference between a government using Chlorine gas vs a (government) police force using Tear Gas? Is it only the fatality rate?

Now Mattis Admits There Was No Evidence Assad Used Poison Gas on His People

If one were to use any search engine going back several years you will see that there's much contention over the validity of evidence of use of Chemical Weapons by Syrian leader Assad.

My point is: we've seen this game before.

Now, Russian vowed to defend Syria if the US attacked. I saw reports that said China would support Russia if they retaliated against the US. POTUS said that a strike was launched against Syria, yet there was no Russian or Chinese response? Curious.

Two theories I come up with
Theory 1: China and Russia were just pranking us- they really won't retaliate to support Syria
Theory 2: POTUS lied to the world about the launch- it never happened, FAKE NEWS.

Which is more reasonable?

The Book of Revelation speaks of Wars and Rumors of Wars (two separate events).

About a week ago I was doing some research on Military Orders which is an interesting bit of law. I found a case in 1799 where SCOTUS upheld a lawsuit against a Naval Captain for detaining a ship (the Flying Fish) on orders from the Commander in Chief, John Adams. Those order were errant and the Captain was held responsible.

I wonder how this Syrian business is going to shake out. I believe that it's against International Law to attack a Sovereign Nation sans (legitimate) provocation. The legitimacy of said Syrian provocation is in serious question.

Great! Now that I’ve got your attention with my snazzie title, I promise to make good on my claim to draw the connection, but I need to tell a little background first.

I had a conversation yesterday with another former service member and we were talking about GWOT and the Anthrax Scare of 2001 regarding who knew what, when, why, etc. This is a topic that interests me and so I have had a Google alert on it for many years now, most of it junk mail but occasionally a jewel arrives in my inbox. This is one of those.

The digest is that Mueller is the link that ties together the unknowns from the FBI final report on the anthrax letter attacks and someone should ask him why there are willful omissions in the report, specifically no mention of why Senators Daschle and Blumenthal Leahy were the selected assassination targets.

Spin Zone / Chickens and Roads- Political Version
« on: February 16, 2018, 01:13:53 PM »
So why did the chicken cross the road?

SARAH PALIN: The chicken crossed the road because, gosh-darn it, he's a maverick!

BARACK OBAMA: Let me be perfectly clear, if the chickens like their eggs they can keep their eggs. No chicken will be required to cross the road to surrender her eggs. Period.

JOHN McCAIN: My friends, the chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON: What difference at this point does it make why the chicken crossed the road?

GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or against us. There is no middle ground here.

DICK CHENEY: Where's my gun?

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken.

AL GORE: I invented the chicken.... and the road.

JOHN KERRY: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

AL SHARPTON: Why are all the chickens white?

DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he is acting by not taking on his current problems before adding any new problems.

OPRAH: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross the road so badly. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a NEW CAR so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

JESSE JACKSON: Because the chicken realized that he was somebody.

ANDERSON COOPER: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's guilty! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

MALCOLM X: Because the chicken lived on that side of the road and it was coming home to roost.  I'm always happy when the chickens come home to roost.

MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way the chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information.

DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain, alone.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.

DONALD TRUMP: We should build a wall so the chicken can't cross the road.

BARBARA WALTERS: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heartwarming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its lifelong dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

BILL GATES: I have just released eChicken2018, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents and balance your checkbook. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken2018. This new platform is much more stable and will never reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS: Did I miss one?

Spin Zone / Another Gay Wedding Cake court Drama

This one has been ruled upon however...

Quote
Forcing a baker to provide a wedding cake for a same-sex marriage over her religious objections violates her right to free speech, a California judge has ruled....

“A wedding cake is not just a cake in a Free Speech analysis,” wrote Superior Court Judge David R. Lampe in a decision late Monday. “It is an artistic expression by the person making it that is to be used traditionally as a centerpiece in the celebration of a marriage. There could not be a greater form of expressive conduct,” he said.

I learn on the news this morning that the County Council is voting today to add speed cameras on a major thoroughfare near my home. I’m against it.

They use safety as a buzzword to just lighten our pockets.

It’s obvious that I need to get more involved with local matters. I’d like you guys’ feedback and talking points so I can send something to my neighbors and local representatives.

I read another article in the Washington Post about this but unfortunately cannot find it, which outlined the case for and against and why this matter is complex for Constitutional Law. It mentioned this case potentially being argued before SCOTUS.

Pilot Zone / Law and Order: SVU S19E11- Flight Risk
« on: January 18, 2018, 08:07:32 AM »
***SPOILER ALERT***

I enjoy watching this show and especially having an aviation catch to it made it worthy to discuss on an aviation board. If you watch and haven't seen it yet then you might want to stop here.

In this episode a female airline pilot has a mental breakdown after being forced to fly with a Captain who raped her 6months prior. The show later reveals that airline bought her silence with promises of fast tracking her to the left seat.

Her breakdown included her making a deviation to return to origination airport and then locking the Captain out of the cockpit. Immediately the overtones of her being of Immigrant descent comes into play as the word "Terrorist" is strewn about. She is charged with a crime but after investigation, the government drops the terrorism charges against her. The show later reveals that she loses her ticket.

What crime did she commit? Only possibility that comes to mind is a violation of 91.11 Interfering with a Flight  Crew. She plead guilty and is sentenced to 2 years. When another former company female pilot comes forward to tell of her similar account, the Captain is convicted of the rape and he pleads to 10yrs in jail.

If the woman who lost her ticket wants to challenge the revocation how would she do this and what is the likelihood of success? What possible related FARs carry the potential of a jail sentence? Is this just fiction or can this happen in real life?

I used to own a share in this airplane.
http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2017/11/cessna-172s-skyhawk-sp-n474sp-goddard.html

I talked with the lady that bought my share and she tells me they added a Garmin G5 and somehow an ability to record flight data(???).

Based on the reports I've read, I'm thinking fuel starvation or disorientation (possible Carbon Monoxide???)
NTSB report isn't out yet.

Goodbye N474SP
