An AP article reports claims that Univ Hong Kong scientists "claim to have the first evidence of someone being reinfected with the virus that causes COVID-19."
A different strain.
Note that the first time he had "mild symptoms" the first time and "none" the second time.
But people will take away that you can get infected again and you don't have lifelong immunity. Almost nobody will notice that people get infected but not have any symptoms. How many people get the virus and don't get sick?

Yep. One in three people with the flu are asymptomatic

But transmission from asymptomatic people is not well studied because, well, they don't show any symptoms.

Thanks for the link.

Actually I meant like getting the flu more than once.

I've always thought any immunity was not permanent. But it looks like we can get a vaccine for it, which should boost herd immunity to the point that the virus can't really spread anymore.
My expectation is that we're going to live with this forever and that we'll be getting vaccines forever. The US has a contract for 300 million doses of Astrazenaca's vaccine, but I suspect that will get us 3-6 months down the road at best. Like the common cold, we probably can never "cure" this, but we'll just have to keep it beat back.
I'd feel good if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, AZN stock is going soaring.
