Spin Zone / Re: Trump Shatters Republican Primary Vote Total
« on: June 09, 2016, 07:10:49 PM »
And Trump got almost twice as many votes as Romney.
Even drop the bottom 6, and Trump received substantially more votes against him than ANY OTHER CANDIDATE IN HISTORY.

If you are going to tout the count he got for himself (ignoring that adjusted for population Bush got more in 2000), then if you're not a hypocrite you have to accept that he got more votes against than anyone too.

Spin Zone / Re: Hillary on Quarterly Capitalism
« on: June 02, 2016, 07:27:34 PM »
She got part of it right.  Corporations are under intense pressure to produce each and every quarter.  Where she missed is, it isn't corporate law creating it but her Wall Street buddies that are creating the pressure to improve quarter after quarter.
Actually, it's the owners of the companies...the shareholders.

Your proof of fact is woefully inadequate. You have missed scenarios that invalidate it. But at least we've moved on from the silly falsity that a vote for x is actually a vote for y. Now you're asserting that it is merely an "advantage" for a candidate. Unfortunately, discovering for whom it will be an advantage requires lots of suppositions and a crystal ball.
One thing that can be inferred is this:  If you vote for Trump, you are explicitly supporting his policies and temperament, and have made a value judgement that he is the kind of person you want to occupy the Oval Office.  All the BS about "I'm voting for Trump just to vote against Hillary" is just that.  A vote FOR Trump is a vote FOR Trump, so own your assessment of his fitness for office.

An invalid point...like how voting for one candidate is actually a vote for another candidate...or was it half a vote?
It's 1/e^x where x is the number of candidates that are involved.

I ride the scooter out that way from time to time.  Was in Cookeville a couple weekends ago.  Will let you know the next ride which takes me further east.  I assume from the mileage you're in Anderson, Roan or Knox county?
If the Nashville magistrate comes to fruition I'll buy you your first congratulatory cold drink of choice.
Anderson, Oak Ridge to be precise.

I don't know, I can't remember that far back.
Brian Williams has a whole chapter about how he reported on it in his autobiography.  :D

The fossil fuel industry is already overly regulated, and yes they are enforced by an out of control EPA.  If there were any environmental problems, the vast liberal/progressive media would be all over it.
Unless, of course, the EPA is responsible for the spill

Did you "Like" your own post?  Isn't that a little biased?
No, it's fine. :)

Maybe it's my interpretation but it appears someone is of the opinion that "the best" equals "perfect".  It hasn't been stated directly but many posts lead me to this conclusion.
Excellent demonstration of a straw man, or is it your contention that people are either "perfect" or pedophiles and KKK members?

Spin Zone / Talk about a Bench-Slap
« on: May 20, 2016, 06:36:31 AM »
For those not familiar with the term...a bench slap is when a judge goes off on lawyers in their court in a particularly eloquent way.

The case in question is the DACA injunction lawsuit in Texas, where Texas and 25 other states have sued the Feds to stop the implementation of Obama's executive amnesty

Quote
This Court has found no authority to support the concept that it is ever ethical and appropriate conduct to mislead a court and opposing counsel; nor has the Government provided any authority to that effect. That being the case, the Court finds no need for a comprehensive dissertation on the duty of candor and honesty because counsel in this case failed miserably at both. The Government’s lawyers in this case clearly violated their ethical duties.
...
The misconduct in this case was intentional, serious and material. In fact, it is hard to imagine a more serious, more calculated plan of unethical conduct. There were over 100,000 instances of conduct contrary to counsel’s representations; such a sizable omission cannot be classified as immaterial.
...
Therefore, this Court, in an effort to ensure that all Justice Department attorneys who appear in the courts of the Plaintiff States that have been harmed by this misconduct are aware of and comply with their ethical duties, hereby orders that any attorney employed at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. who appears, or seeks to appear, in a court (state or federal) in any of the 26 Plaintiff States annually attend a legal ethics course.

SERIOUS case of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome).
You remind me of Little Jimmy.
Ad hominem.  I provide actual facts, you simply attack the messenger.

Generally a sign that you have no real arguments.
