The Fascist Democrats are going all out again to ban/confiscate guns and create yet more gun laws to purposely disarm only the law abiding. They call them "reasonable and common sense" yet they are anything but as crazies and criminals don't follow laws. Remove gun free zones and you will see a lot of these shootings stop.
There are already over 22,000 gun laws on the books. All of them are in violation of the Second Amendment. If they want to pass more laws they need to amend the Constitution and/or remove or modify the 2A.

I have yet to see an example of a common sense gun law. Don't use a gun to commit a crime, kill someone, don't allow criminals to possess/buy a gun for them, don't let mentally ill people have guns? Oh wait, we already have these laws.

I'm now on the fence on guns. I do like shooting and own several long guns, short guns, and pistols. When the shit hits the fan, I'd prefer to be armed than disarmed. And while I believe that "an armed society is a polite society", too many of "the wrong people" have guns. Right now I'm tending toward some sort of stricter ownership requirement and let attrition reduce the number of guns on the streets. I don't know how this will work, and I do NOT trust the State to have our best interests at heart.
I don't know what else will stop the carnage in Chicago and other shithole cities, or the lone nutcases going apeshit in an elementary school. What can be done? Current laws aren't working and/or are not enforced.

Enforce existing laws. The first thing the DA's do with career criminals is drop the gun charges to plea it down. Rinse and repeat over and over.
Also there are so many guns that they'll never go away. And guns are easy to make by someone with a little skill and some equipment.
The guns aren't the problem. Nuts can and have used gasoline and other common things to kill. As others have said its a people and societal problem.
Do you really want to rely on only the cops to keep you and your family safe? What do you think will happen when criminals and government know everyone is disarmed. They won't stop at stricter purchasing requirements, then ther is the Black Market.

There is no way to prevent “the wrong people” from having guns. I don’t know how you can enforce a stricter ownership requirement. You see it doesn’t work in the “gun free” cities like NYC. All the criminals have them without permits anyway. The only people with no guns are the law abiding innocent.
All gun restrictions should be removed. If there is any gun law at all, it’s that it should mandatory TO own guns. All households should be armed to potentially defend the country. A nice side benefit would be there will always be someone around to stop a mass killer like this piece of shit.
Kids should all be trained in firearm safety from kindergarten. Adults in schools, churches and places of business should always be armed.
A 16 year old girl should NEVER drive anywhere alone without a gun. And she should be well trained in its use.

CA, NY, NJ, CT, RI, MA, etc all have extremely strict gun and gun carry restrictions only on the law abiding. Yet they still have mass shootings, murders out the wazoo and everything else.
People need to stop letting mainstream media influence their thoughts and actions.

Yeah, I think I'm kind of down. My wife is still recovering from Covid and I have a sick dog. The world is nuts and there's nothing I can do about it. Nothing I can do about most things that are going wrong. Once the weather gets better I'll go flying and clear my head. That always works.

A county in southern Utah actually did pass an ordinance that required every household to have a gun.
Ultimately, a court struck it down, for the same reason ObamaCare should have been stricken down. >:(

I was being a bit hyperbolic. In reality I probably wouldn’t support forcing every household to have a gun any more than I would support forcing every household to have smoke detectors.
