PILOT SPIN

Seems the MC is in full censorship mode again. Someone recently put a thread up as a tribute to John McCain as a pilot. Thread got locked and several post removed, then unlocked. Some of the post that were removed (censored) were not political at all. One poster pointed that out and now the thread is deleted.
Seems the "front porch of aviation" has become dilapidated with the roof caving in and the flooring rotting out with nails sticking up.

I don't remember the last time I was on POA.

On occasion when I'm bored I go by and read a few threads, but it's still the same old stuff. There's a few trolls that the MC lets run wild without moderation, then there's the self proclaimed experts, etc, etc.
Seems lately there's been a purge (again) of several of the usual posters. The MC there needs an enema, bad.

And yet this stands, post #xxxx

Edited: apparently they got rid of it, so I edited it out because that post is now something innocent.
Not sure if that means they aren't left leaning hypocrites though or not.

The MC leans left, so there are better chances of something like that being allowed versus anything that would support a more conservative, or libertarian opinion. Yes, very hypocritical. It's part of the reason I no longer participate there.
Chuck, the guy that started the website many years ago was a Lefty, so that's part of the reason I think why SZ was deleted, and why the site leans left in some ways. Also, some of the current MC are lefties, so...…...

The level of self-centered, egotism at POA is on about the same level as it is at CNN.
The moderators get a charge out of pretending to be powerful and better than everyone else, when they are transparently afraid of anyone who dares to have an independent thought.
I can't imagine a good reason for anyone with an actual brain to bother to visit there.
Of course if you only spouted political talking points of the losers of the left, tehn everything would be looked seen through a different lens.
When Claire was busy destroying the red board I thought that was as bad as these things can get but the clowns princess at POA managed to go even better.
As long as they allow idiots to control the discussion you will always have idiotic results.

Is the purple board any better? I hadn't logged in the that one in years and I see that I never even messaged them to unlock their "spin zone".
-
Naturally the usual lefty troublemakers started early making sly comments re Trump, and someone took the bait and fired back, which made it "political."

I've never participated in the PB's version of the SZ. I am a regular there and hang out mostly in the Last thread. It more resembles chat. There are probably eight or ten of us that are regular there and we just share what is going on in our lives. We've had some great fly-ins. Usually every other year in the spring we fly into KEDE and enjoy Mimi's hospitality. Four or five of them are in Vale, OR this weekend at Bob's place and doing a little back country flying.

I have not been back to POA since I left years ago, once they stoop to that level of censorship and hypocrisy it will never get better.
When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Close-minded groupthink holds no attractiveness for me.
Let it die on the vine.

I stay because I've been to some of the fly-ins and actually enjoy most of the folks I've met. *shrug* As for the left leanings, I recognize it for what it is and don't let it get my undies in a bunch. *again shrug*

Hypothesis: what if they aren't left leaning but they delete rightist comments because the left are crybabies and report them more but they don't delete leftist comments because people on the right aren't about censorship and so don't report the comments. This assumes they aren't usually reading comments themselves but rely on reports to even know they are there.
If this is true then maybe we can generalize and hope it means that there is far more conservative/libertarian thought out there than we see in the world in general.

I think this is part of the issue. Libs tend to be big cry babies, and whine a lot more, so the squeaky wheels get the grease.

Agree, and I don't really get it. I've been online since the USENET days, and I've never kill filed, blocked, or ratted on anyone. If I don't agree with the content I'm reading, the delete key works just fine.

I don’t think I’ve been back since the SZ was killed. I don’t miss the douchebags, the biggest of which was Henning and his bizarre alleged expertise in everything.

Henning disappeared into the ether from which he came a long time ago.

It all went downhill when Bryan with a Y started his nonsense.

He was banned IIRC.

i have thought that many times. That was when POA went for Aviation's front porch, to Facebook for Pilots.

Although I post there, PurpleBoard doesn't have much in the way of aviation-related threads - on a rough par with this forum, which doesn't have much either (nttiawwt.) I scan PoA maybe maybe once every week or two and look for threads on subject of interest but generally don't log in. I post to PoA maybe two or three times a year now.
I've been to a fly-in that originated on PoA and one that originated on PB (Bob's first one). Couldn't make the fly-in at Bob's this year. :(
Would be "interesting" to go to a Pilot Spin fly-in!
(PoA moderators are indeed petty - learned that from direct encounters.)
