Nonsense. His background was published on every MSM I saw as soon as it became known. The Minneapolis authorities are being slow to release information.

The initial articles I read, except for Fox News did not mention his background, however, I see now they are.

Trump has made some mistakes, obviously.  Lately, he has said a few things in which I disagree.  WRT Obamacare:  "Let it Fail".  The optics are bad on this.  It makes it seem he is OK with putting people at risk for healthcare coverage.  I know he doesn't mean that, but it can be spun as such.  The second is, "I don't own Obamacare".  Well, yes you do.  You agreed to that when you took the oath of office.  You own it more, if you fail to repeal, and/or replace it.

This is basic communication, and he needs to sharpen it up.  NOW.

In fairytale land maybe.  They've never chosen to do so...because they don't have to and there's no incentive for them to do so.  Hence, why this thread exists.  I'm thinking many people here don't even think a problem exists.

One of my clients is a major, regional healthcare system.  They spend huge dollars advertising, and are also going through a capital improvement initiative to modernize various facilities, and equipment to remain competitive with other healthcare systems in order to attract more patients.  Fairytale Land?  What would happen if some or all the Obamacare restrictions went away?

Why not just let the free market work, just like any other free market?

While I do agree that healthcare is a different "commodity" than others I do think market competition can work.  Why do you think hospitals, and healthcare systems advertise?  Artificial, government, price controls do not work.  The market can limit costs, and create an equilibrium between service, and cost through NATIONAL competition.

The Democrats may smarten up, and run a moderate, populist that can be embraced by union types, and blue collar, middle America workers.  Naaaaa.  They are still eating brie cheese, drinking Chardonnay, and ridiculing FLY OVER AMERICA.

This doesn't fit the media's narrative.  It will be forgotten by tomorrow.

The Republicans are in total disarray, and eating their own.  It is an embarrassment.  Maybe it is time for a third party to emerge.  Swamp Drainers?  Tea Totallers?

This is getting national attention, however, the MSM fails to mention it is a Somali Muslim that committed the murder.

The problem is that if the Republicans don't show progress on some things we will get another Democrat in 2020.  However, I don't think a lot of the establishment Republicans in the House, and Senate care that much.  As long as they keep their seats, and committee positions in order to line their own pockets, and retain power, they are happy.  Go along to get along, and be a part of the gravy train.  That's all they care about.  The establishment Republicans are worse hypocrites than the Democrats.

How come we never hear of "Knife Crime" or Fist Crime" or "Baseball Bat Crime"?

Because the powers that be fear legally armed citizens that can resist oppression, and tyranny.  Look at all the vehicle deaths each year, some carried out purposely.  You don't hear "car crime".

100% agree! In fact, I said that a few replies back. "Gun crime" is just shorthand for violence perpetrated using a gun.

Yes, the media and the Dems like to blame the gun while guns by themselves are harmless.  It takes a person to use one for it to be dangerous.

Meaning what exactly? Do you think the people who live here in VT are different in some fundamental way from those who live in DC?

Yes, I do for the most part.  I think the vast majority of people in VT are very different from inner city, poor minorities.  Just like the people where I live in the outer burbs of Philly are very different from the inner city poor of that city.  It is about values, and responsibility, not skin color.

Welfare was never intended to be a career goal.  Yet we now have second and third generations that have known nothing but welfare.

That was the intent of LBJ, and his Great Society/War on Poverty.  He and the Democrats wanted to keep the inner city poor as huge voting blocks.  In order to do this he had to keep them DEPENDENT.  Now we see the results.  ALL urban centers, and most metro areas surrounding them are Democrat.  They are also locked into a cycle of poverty.  There is no easy escape, nor easy solution.  Anya work requirements, or transition programs get trashed by the Dems, and Media as heartless Republican initiatives to starve the poor.

But we need to vote in different Republicans, or third party candidates that will improve the situation.  If we merely vote out the Republicans and vote in the Democrats again, we will be even worse off.

This is why the Primaries are so important.  There needs to be a grass roots movements for people to target the Establishment Republicans, and replace them with candidate that hopefully won't turn into Establishment Republicans.  Not an easy task, as once politicians get a taste of power, an social climbing (committee appointments, leadership, etc) they become CORRUPT.

Of course they do! But among those who have problems with impulse control, or outright mental illness, a few will still resort to guns under certain circumstances. And the stresses of big city life are likelier to "breed" (poor choice of words, but I can't think of a better word right now) people like that, and trigger them (no pun intended) to act.

Why is there so little gun crime here in Vermont and so much in, say, DC? Surely it's not BECAUSE anyone could be carrying here. It's because in this largely rural environment, people aren't so much at each other's throats, there is more of a sense of community and it's much less common for disputes to rise to that level.

Note that I'm talking about domestic and neighbor-on-neighbor gun crime... obviously, gangs are a MUCH bigger problem in places like DC too. But even domestic gun violence is lower here.

It is NOT "Gun Crime", it is PEOPLE CRIME.  And the reason is DEMOGRAPHICS.
