BTW, in the modern era (since TV) no candidate behind 3 weeks out from the conventions has ever won.

Here's the thing.


If the 2016 election is a referendum on Hillary/Obama 3rd Term, Hillary loses, in a landslide.


If the 2016 election is a referendum on Trump and his temperament to be President, he loses in a landslide.


The problem lies in that Trump is incapable of imagining anything NOT being about himself.  So, he is actively working to make the election a referendum on himself.  Since Hillary is doing the same, it is highly likely that the election will be a referendum on Trump.
