When Attorney General Loretta Lynch decided late last year that the Justice Department would end the federal civil asset forfeiture program, criminal justice reform advocates proclaimed it a “significant deal.”
But late last month, less than four months later, the Obama administration reversed itself and reinstated the Asset Forfeiture Fund’s Orwellian “equitable sharing” program.
That’s a shame, particularly when the only supporters of the policy are the law enforcement agencies that directly benefit from it.

Just let them try. It is why they want to take our guns.

Actually that's exactly what they do. The police collect thousands of firearms every year as "evidence", or if you possess one during arrest. They never give them back and usually charge a "storage fee" if you want them back. The fee is always more than the gun is worth, so they keep them and then sell them to make money. It's criminal, but they're the ones in charge of the laws, so what can you do?
I'm not saying all police departments do this, but many do. Particularly in areas of the country where it is not as friendly to gun ownership.

How many guns are "collected" every year as evidence or because of restraining orders or whatever?
What percentage of those guns are sold? What percentage are destroyed?

I never could figure out how the civil asset forfeiture program was constitutional. I know it has been upheld, but there has to have been some serious twisted logic that makes it constitutional to seize a person's stuff and leave them destitute.

Maybe the Supremes called it a tax!

Yes we do.

Yes we do.
But it is not something we want to discuss on the internet.

The Founders gave us- the People- the final recourse.

Yes and if you and others think we should exercise this option then you should all-
- Quit reading news feeds everywhere and avoid all politics.
- Get a job. An actual good paying job.
- If you aren't qualified for that good job, do what it takes to be qualified.
- Look around you. Life is pretty good.
