You won't find this in the MSM.

Even worse, he wants increased birth control in "poor countries". Yes, we need eugenics to help stop climate change.

"So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support."

I would donate to provide free birth control to poor countries, and even to poor people here in the US. Many of our problems are caused by too many people, and by too many poor people having babies they cannot afford. I'd rather pay for this than study about why frogs croak in other countries.

Do you equate abortion with birth control? There is no doubt that Bernie does.

Absolutely not. To me "birth control" is a preventative, like condoms or the pill. Or even, God Forbid, abstinance.
To me, abortion is nothing but killing a living organism. But to be honest, while I don't condone the killing of (most) humans, it doesn't terribly upset me either. We are all going to die anyway, and some people actually need killing. By that I mean people that have committed an act that rescinds their right to life. I have never heard of that applying to a fetus.

If I may ask, why that attitude toward abstinance?

I agree with Bernie about birth control, but not abortion. Giving birth control to poor nations does lift them out of poverty, (I would say necessary but not sufficient- you also need free markets) but I don’t support the idea that abortion should be promoted there and certainly not paid for by tax money.
The truth is that humanity as a whole does not have an overpopulation problem. Only poor nations do. One key to bringing them into the first world is to give their women control over reproduction. But once we get everyone up to being first world, the population will stabilize. After that we are real risk of declining population. In the wealthiest nations we are not even at replacement rate.

The reality is that Bernie was totally talking about abortion, not condoms or the pill. That’s why it’s dangerous when liberals obfuscate their desired by using “nice” or common sense words.
From the article:
“The Mexico City Agreement which denies American aid to those organisations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd.”

I think abstinence is a perfectly reasonable form of birth control. In fact, I think it should be the preferred way, especially for unmarried people (not that I ever practiced it).
But modern liberals think that is "so old fashioned" and repressive.
