Title: SpaceX Starship SN8 12km Hop Poll
Post by: Jim Logajan on December 08, 2020, 09:54:14 AM
A little late for a poll since the test may happen today and even in the next few hours, but better late than never!

Raptor engines didn’t start. Somebody forgot to light the fuse.

Did nobody say “Let’s light this candle!”?

Checklists, people. Use your checklists.

Whoever selected “Orients to vertical but still crashes” got the right answer.
Looks like they need to work on their landings.

Looks like they lost one or two engines during ascent so didn’t have them available when it came time to arrest the descent to land. Nice belly flop and flip, though.

Looks like engine shutdowns on ascent were planned. Only unplanned aspect, as best I understand, was drop in fuel pressure to the two restarted engines. One clearly went out on landing burn and other burmed wrong.

This is currently the only video that’s been uploaded (so far) that includes a shot of the ground so you can see how high the rocket was when it flipped to vertical. Sounds like quite the audience.
