Title: I got something from China!
Post by: Rush on May 08, 2020, 12:56:47 PM
Not something that came over wholesale in a shipping container, but an honest to God direct mailing from "China Post" which I assume is their counterpart to our USPS.  The return address is Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

I had ordered something from Amazon and when it hadn't arrived after four weeks, I emailed them asking where is my order and someone with extremely poor English emailed me back that it was on its way from China, and they were having delays because of the reduced numbers of flights and customs delays and if I didn't get it in a few more days they would refund me, but lo and behold, it arrived!

So am I supposed to fear germs? Should I spray Lysol on it? Subject it to UV light? :D

Yes.  You should use multiple lysol wipes, make sure you use gloves (and, of course, a mask, not just a face covering), and leave it in a safe place for 14 days to make sure there are no more viable COVID-19 viruses on it.

(the equivalent of green font should be obvious)

At what point to we destroy the economy and essentially stop living normal lives out of FEAR from a virus?

I ordered something on April 17th and paid (a lot) extra for 2-5 day shipping.  It showed up on Wednesday.

I ordered chocolate for my mother in law for Mother’s Day and paid for overnight shipping and I got a notice that they sent it ground and she won’t get it til Tuesday. So I emailed them yesterday and today I got a voicemail saying they are sending out a second shipment with special weekend delivery, she will get it tomorrow, at no cost to me. She will also get the original one on Tuesday.  ;D

I have ordered and received a number of small, cheap items directly from China that came that way. Mostly (but not always) electrical/electronic stuff. The shipping cost hardly anything,
and delivery was not bad. Not lately, though (last probably before the holidays).

I paid a total of $11.31, free shipping. Unbelievable. Maybe pretty soon they will pay me shipping cost if oil keeps going negative.
