no matter who ends up in the White House.   The only difference I see, potentially, is the amount of time to get to the end.  If we put another "D" in the White House we'll get there much quicker.  If we put an "R" in the White house we still get there, but maybe a little slower although actions of late do not bare that out.

Someone convince me this is not true and that there actually is a way to pay down $20T in debt and not have it increase from this point on.
$20T is nothing, the unfunded liabilities are an order of magnitude worse and effectively un-repayable.

With the current choices and the systems in place to limit those choices we are screwed, the only question is how long.

If either or both parties can be reclaimed by the people AND someone can actually act as adult supervision it could get better but I am not expecting it.

Spin Zone / Re: GOP Debate January 28, and the Muslim Problem

The Muslim gal upset in assuming it is everyone else s problem and not her and anyone affiliated with her religion.  I wanted to climb through the TV and say, "It isn't us sawing heads of Christians."

I agree. The real problem withe toxic environment, is people pretending that it is not an Islamist problem that relates directly to the wholesale hijacking of their religion, and the fact that the majority of Muslims refuse to hold anyone of their religion accountable, no matter what they do in the name of Islam. That you-tube girl was the perfect modern snowflake, shoving all responsibility onto non-Muslim Americans.

That' not accurate.

It's more like "Why get a job when the Treasury will borrow from China for you"

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that every time he speaks the market takes a dive?

I don't know if there is a correlation or causation, but I do know he, and the other Dems like to demonize "Wall St" and large corps yet take HUGE donations from them.

It cannot be made any clearer:  The discussion is here to be had, your opinion and input are valuable, but you can back out anytime if something offends you.  A better approach would be to ignore, or just critically scan, the comments of the person who has offended you.  There may still be something valuable in other things they have to say.

Everyone here seems to misunderstand me. I'm not offended. I don't identify as a liberal, so it doesn't bother me personally. I also don't believe in putting anyone on "ignore". It's silly.

The point of my original response was a request that maybe we start this forum off as a more intelligent place than the old Spin Zone was and try to refrain from name calling, insults and gross generalizations. The old Spin Zone was often just a school yard squabble with no real argument, but just contradiction and insults.

Anyhow, the suggestion seems to have fallen on deaf ears. It seems the freedom to insult people is held more dear than the ideal of a good debate. So be it. Like I have said, I'm not here to censor anybody (even if I could) or go all touchy feely PC on people. I can play the school yard way too, but I fear it will get boring, turn people off once the loudest bullies take over and this site will never get any bigger, or better.

Wall Street has been on an unprecedented artificially inflated bull run for nearing six years. Companies and banks are not reflecting true competitive open market valuations. They have been 'shored up' by QE and ZIRP policies.

The next Great stock market correction aka liquidity crunch is going to catch people by surprise (although it shouldn't) and throw this country into an instant depression of unseen proportions. Foreign countries will call their notes in an attempt to subterfuge and cripple our great nation even more. The derivatives market will implode and take every nation on earth with us. Hunger and civil unrest will follow, possibly martial law, war, civil war, and the end of our great experiment as we know it. A dictator will arise. Most likely a ruthless one.

Bullets, beans, gold and silver might save you a seat at the table, but that's speculitive.

The locker room part is strange enough.  But let's go back one more step.  How is it possible to want to be another gender?  No one loves boobs more than me, but I want them on a woman, not myself.
