Title: Major US airlines' CEOs dispute need for masks on planes
Post by: Lucifer on December 16, 2021, 06:09:05 AM

I believe this will trigger the Brandon Administration to require vaccination as a requirement to fly domestic.

Quote
The CEOs of two of America's largest airlines have come out and contested the notion that wearing masks is an effective way to halt the spread of COVID-19 on planes.
On Wednesday, the CEOs of two of America's largest airlines questioned the need for masks on planes. American Airlines CEO Doug Parker and Southwest's Gary Kelly made the comments after the topic of masks was brought up during a senate hearing regarding financial support given to airlines by the government during the pandemic.
As CNN reports, both CEOs noted that the HEPA filters used on most airplanes capture nearly all the "airborne contamination" and, along with the almost constant exchange of cabin air with fresh air, help provide an environment that is as clean, if not cleaner, than any other indoor space.

The Karens that need their security face blanket are going to howl in outrage over this heresy.

Just make it mask optional. Let the Karens wear their face diapers if they want.

Off topic, kinda:
I have a niece named Karen. I don't know how she feels about the name being used as an insult, but at a minimum it must be slightly annoying.

But I guess being part of the crowd means following whatever everyone else is doing.

I have an in law named Dick. I always wondered how Dicks feel about their name being used as an insult and as a reference to a private body part. But he’s a confident guy with thick skin, doesn’t seem to let words harm him. His wife always calls him “Richard” though. I don’t know whether the slang bothers her, or if he is always in trouble with her.

When I was a kid, by stepfather brought some Griesedieck beer home (pronounced greasy dick).  My mother refused to say the name and got mad when we did, so we started calling it "Slippery Richard" beer.

Interesting story of a family owned business. And a descendant is restarting the brand.

Was this "financial support" contingent on the airlines claiming "federal law" requires face masks?

The President of the Association of Flight Attendants said that it should be 'left to the medical community'.

I have been wondering, with all of the flight attendants getting attacked, how many of the flight attendants are Covid crazy Karens.

I was on a flight out to California and I ordered the salad.  I took 2 hours to eat it just to keep my mask off.  The flight attendant saw what I was doing and just laughed.  How many other flight attendants would have told me to eat faster.

I flew a ton this year for work.

I learned to drink my scotch very slowly.  The majority of flight attendents either didn't notice, or more likely didn't care.  A few had a fit so I just smiled and acted dumb.

My son had his preschool Christmas concert yesterday. 2 kids were wearing masks. I felt bad for them. You couldn't see them singing or see them smile when we clapped for them.

Butt Jizz (Sec of Transportation) can end this idiocy immediately, but he won't.   Somewhere back he stated simply "mask show compliance" when asked about why airline travelers still had to mask up.

I think the Brandon Admin will say mask can go away, but must show vaccine status to fly.

I’ve noticed an uptick of people walking on sidewalks and driving cars with their paper pacifier in place recently.

Maybe it’s to gain a false sense of superiority, but I suspect they’re just stupid, scared, uninformed and desperate for attention, all at the same time.

Exactly!  Otherwise they’d be called Marge, Gail, or Susan, for example. Karens are a special kind of tyrant.

It is amazing to me how many people still are wearing masks. It is dropping fairly rapidly but still. I guess if you spend the better part of 2 years bombarding people with fear messages, some people will be very affected and unable to break free for a very long time.

even more disappointing are the number of people clamoring for indoor mask mandates to be reinstated (like in maskachusetts).

Went to the movie tonight, the new Spiderman movie is out.  The theater we go to has one auditorium with a larger screen and capacity. Not sure what it is, but it must hold 400 people. We went to the 3:00 pm showing, it was at least at half capacity of more. When we left they were queued up down the hallway and out into the lobby. That showing was sold out.  We're in rural GA, NE of the Atlanta. I didn't really count, guessing less than 5% had masks and doubt it was that many.
