I’m going to go work on the Venus Manned Spacecraft project. That has more of a chance of happening than the green new deal.

The Democrats think Texas, and some other States will turn BLUE the next election. They are banking on the huge influx of ILLEGAL ALIENS. That is their strategy. Illegal Aliens will vote solidly Dem. Why do you think all the Dem candidates want "Free" healthcare, and "Free" college for Illegals? Next will be Universal Basic Income for Illegals. Watch.
They don't want to need the legal American Citizen anymore. They are usurping the sovereignty of the United States.

This is all they've got. They aren't going to change the Electoral College, that would take a Constitutional Amendment and it ain't gonna happen any time soon.
Anyone who works and pays taxes has a good chance of waking up to Trump's good economy. People who pay no taxes and get free stuff will vote Dem, and this is why they 1) are pushing for open borders and 2) give the aliens all free stuff. It is SO OBVIOUS what they're doing. They don't care a flip about the poor people wanting to have a better life in America. If they did they would be helping them personally, like Pelosi using her millions to clean up her own city. The left is desperately trying to grab power, just like leftists do everywhere; force it down the throats of the producers.

Not sure if it was on CNN or PBS yesterday as I have both presets on my car radio (along with FOX) and I switch around when they go to commercial, or when they make me gag.
But whoever it was was complaining that the high stock market is not helping most working people. But what they forget is that the stock market is not a factor in improving the economy. A growing stock market is the result, or the product of an improving economy. It is the improving economy that is helping most working people.

A lot of things affect the value of the market.
The most important, but not always the most prominent is a booming economy.
Government interference, like "Quantative Easing" can artificially inflate the market. It is true that this really only helps those that own stock, and is the only thing that gave Obama's administration any indication of a "good economy". But it was false.
Perception is also a driving force. the problem is as you say, it can be a self-fulfilling prophesy. If the MSM has a bone to pick with the administration, they can make bold predictions and do selective reporting to destroy that perception.
But long term, only a good economy will support a booming economy AND help the average citizen.
