I usually just say RIP in these cases. However, Cummings was a hate filled, angry, unhinged, bought and paid for Race Baiter. His deep corruption has become well known up to and including in 2019. A dishonest, anti American creep. Good riddance. You never wanted peace in this life, may you find it now.

In reading more, it seems like he's had health issues for a bit. I don't understand why they don't retire and work on their health and enjoy the rest of their life.

You must really feel diminished then. Over a million people die every week. Do you feel bad for all of them? Some of them will be missed more than others. Some of them will be grieved more than others. Some of them needed to die.
I don't revel in Elijah's death. But I certainly don't miss him or grieve for him.

If you value life, then shouldn't you value all life? Even "them"? Or is it only the life that you deem worthy that is valuable?

It’s pretty normal, I think, to breathe a sigh of good riddance when awful people are no longer going to be able to prey on and misuse our fellow humans. But it’s “both/and,” of course ... we never know the state of another person’s soul at any moment in time.

I'm not talking about judging a person's soul. This is more of a core value thing.
It's the life contradiction and it happens both ways. If you claim to value life, but you don't value everyone, then what you're really saying is that people only live because you approve of them or because you don't have the power to end their life. But if you were to ever get into a situation where you do have the power, then what happens? Do you value life or do you start killing?
I frequently say that gun violence is a violence problem, but a core part of the violence problem is a lack of respect for life. When people live or die based on your will and you have the power over them without a respect for ALL lives, then bad things happen. It can be murder, genocide, the Holocaust...all of these things share a core piece of respecting only some life. If we could get everyone to sign onto that idea, that life is valuable, it would virtually eliminate murder. At least its something to work toward.
The other place that this comes in is the conflict between abortion and the death penalty - if life is important, how can you be in favor of one but not the other? We're back to your approving the killing of others based on how well they comply with your wishes.
Bottom line - All Lives Matter.

The problems arise, yes, when someone decides someone else has to die, for whatever reason.
With the Muslim extremists, for example, they believe you should die because you are an infidel.
And then they come after you with deadly force to do the deed and you fight back with deadly force.
You can be all super peaceable and life respecting, but when your own life or the life of someone you love is threatened, it’s all bets off and Katie bar the door.
Getting everyone to sign a life-valuing pledge is a nice idea but human history suggests we haven’t evolved to the point yet where keeping it would be universally trustworthy.
And don’t get me started on what kind of civilization kills its young. Maybe we can evolve past that someday, too.

It's amusing to read someone pontificate about how important life is, and how "all lives matter", but yet in another thread cry and complain about a President who doesn't want to send our military into an unnecessary war where their lives could be lost. ::) :o

My biggest problem with the death penalty is the number of times people have been wrongly convicted and the finality of the penalty. Yeah, I'm one of those people that think the death penalty is wrong and abortion is an abomination.
Bottom line - All Lives Matter.
