Great analysis of the problem. Industry is addressing it by raising wages and benefits which of course will lead to price hikes and more inflation.

Of course the whole thing is another disastrous result of lockdowns and covid paranoia. Trump was not necessarily wrong to try to help people with money but that should have ended by the summer of 2020. He started a very bad precedent. The branch covidians ran with it. Once it was clear that covid death rates are mostly only high among the old and sick, everyone else should have been told to get the fuck back to work and school. This economic damage is spiraling out of control. The worker shortage is due directly to free money, eviction moratoriums and media fueled terror of a virus that doesn’t kill kids and young adults any more the flu. There is no longer any reason to enable healthy people to cower in their homes.
Now that federal unemployment benefits offered through the American Rescue Plan Act and the eviction moratorium have ended (in some states), some industry experts believe this will push more retailer workers to return to work sooner. The program gave an extra $300 a week to jobless Americans, and the moratorium protects tenants from being evicted for not paying rent.
"Between the unemployment benefits and the eviction moratorium... a lot of people can do what we call 'stop out' of the workforce and still make their ends meet," said Sucharita Kodali, retail analyst at Forrester. Once workers have "less of a safety net, they will be forced to go back into the workforce."
They damn sure better end that shit. It’s past time.

Liberals (communists) are too short sighted, and far too egotistical to understand that every actio causes a reaction somewhere else.
That's part of why those shallow brained, peepers are so emphatic about ordering others to get the scam shots.
Their minds literally can't fathom anything happening that they weren't told to think.
The level of blind stupidity needed to think that firing half your work force because they won't get a fake shot won't cause prices to spike as shortages begin to tear down the TRUMP recovery from the faggot obama and senile biden years.

My daughter bought her first home, and called a fence company about putting up an attractive aluminum fence on the yard. The owner of the fence company said he had plenty of time to talk, because he literally can’t find anyone to install fences. He has about 15 jobs that he can’t even start. He is scheduling out early to mid summer, and has a 22-25 week lead time for the aluminum for the fencing.
How long can this madness go on? It is all a giant self-inflicted wound.

And he won’t get paid until the projects are complete.

None of this is happenstance. It's all by design. There's more coming.

I'm looking at a new garage door. Prices are up 300 percent and 4-6 month wait time. It's nuts. I can't even get contractors to get me quotes on other work I need done on my house.

A garage door opener might be one of the easiest installs ever. Doing it yourself for the first time, it’s a good Saturday project. Go watch a video on how to do it on YouTube and if you can use a power drill, you’ll be like “I can do this”.

I'm sadly having some work done now that couldn't wait, further delay would have caused structural failure due to rotted wood and water damage. It's costing me double what it should, but I have no choice at this point.

Well it's still wise to get it done. Mine is more cosmetic, updating etc that is badly needed but not essential.

Very interesting discussion of an important underlying factor keeping men out of the workforce even not considering the pandemic. Short and easy to listen to compared to his other videos.
Basically, feminism, the high divorce rate, and constant accusations of sexism renders the youngest male generation unmotivated to work or date girls. They aren’t going to college, this has been discussed as an alarming trend by the biased leftist media so it’s not just right wing Carey’s imagination here.
The internet plays a role. Young males have unlimited access to porn with beautiful slim women as opposed to overweight real life girls, and can satisfy Mr. Johnson free of the danger real world sex brings which is not only pregnancy and STD but now, they have to worry that 30 years in the future #metoo will come back to ruin them.
But the internet also allows them through gaming to experience being successful, strong, masculine heroes where in real life that behavior is criticized as toxic masculinity.
We already have a problem of age demographic imbalance and need young people to work to support the increasing older population. In reality, men contribute much more real value, as shown by the “wage gap” which is a real measure of their work value NOT a sexist inequality, because of the simple fact that women still take more time off to raise children.
This trend is ominous for the future of our economy. My take on it is that the natural biological relationship between male and female that has evolved over millions of years is being stifled by wokeness and feminism. The support of humans as pack animals depends on the basic male-female social-sexual relationship and that is being destroyed right now, it’s going to have devastating long term consequences including literal survival through the economy.

Opener is easy, but not the door. No way I'm going to try to do it myself. Those springs are no joke. My contractor brother may be coming out in the next few weeks to do work around our mom's house, so I may throw him some cash to knock out my small few projects.

No kidding, especially the old style linear springs that went along the upper door rails, those suckers will kill you. In our old house we ran safety cables inside them so at least they'd just follow the cable if they broke.

Ha. Agreed. People have gotten killed by not knowing how to handle the coiled spring of garage doors.

Beat me to it about the springs. I agree.

As we were under contract to sell our house last time we moved, I noticed one of the two linear springs was broken. I got somebody to come replace them both and install a new control mechanism. Mark was too busy working although he can install those things, he did it on our old house up in the mountains when he closed up the carport and turned it into a garage. In fact he actually built the doors. He's got carpentry skills.
Anyway, this last time it was a hostile sales situation, we were pissed at the buyer for reasons I won't get into but they had two young children and she was pregnant. I didn't want to take any chances of them taking possession of the house and not fixing that door. The kids were innocent.
