Title: Seattle Gun Tax Failure - Article
Post by: LevelWing on June 19, 2017, 11:22:13 AM
Quote from: Fox News
When the City of Seattle passed a tax on all sales of guns and ammunition, the measure was hailed as a way to defray the rising costs of gun violence.

But since the tax took effect, those costs have only risen as gun violence in the city has surged. And the tax has apparently brought in much less than city leaders projected it would.

It's unfortunate that cities like Seattle have such a large impact on how the rest of the state is run. It may only be a small amount of time since the gun tax was enacted and there are certainly other factors involved in gun sales (such as the overall economy, for example), but this should be a pretty good indication that this tax isn't working. The city said it was to study gun violence, I look at it as another way to attack gun rights and try to limit those who can buy them.

Yep, just another way to limit 2A rights, and that was the intent all along.  They always cite "Gun Violence" and "safety, and public good" as reasons to take our rights away.  I have never seen a violent gun.  I have seen violent people though.  Didn't Seattle also drive a lot of business out due to the increase in the minimum wage to $15/hr?  This tax should be taken to court.
