So apparently AOPA has decided to replace Tom Haines as AOPA Live host with Paul Harrop. Oh wait... it's Sierra now.
I never minded Paul as an occasional contributor. Not my favorite, but whatever. Paul in a wig and earrings though is beyond my ability to watch. I'm sure they couldn't fire him in this day & age, but making him the host? Maybe they think no one will care because no one actually watches it? Or maybe the math is that the youtube crowd is young and hip enough they'll like it?
What's going to be the blowback from this? Nothing? Something? Is that the reason Haines retired?
Nobody seems to be talking about it outside the YouTube comments section... not sure if that's because the show isn't that widely viewed or everyone is afraid of getting banned on the forums. Admittedly that's why I'm here.

aopa went sideways years ago. Nothing surprises me in the area of misunderstanding their customer base.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm fairly active on POA, but i'm pretty sure this topic wouldn't last long over there. A thread did pop up on BT, but didn't attract much activity. I'm not sure if nobody watches so they don't care or if I just reached the point in life where society has passed me by. I'm still debating sending letters to Stagnito and Baker, but I'm guessing that would be wasted effort. If he had changed his name to Tyrone and showed up in blackface he would've been out on his ass, but pretending to be a women is OK for some reason.

I think you meant to like Stan’s (nddons) post rather than your own. I made the same mistake when I first came here, with where the like button is located. I probably “liked” some posts I actually vehemently disagreed with.
I left AOPA when they finally banned all subjects other than aviation on their forum. I’d been there almost from the very beginning, back when the Internet was considered free speech. Moderation was just to keep foul language off in case your kid is looking over your shoulder, actual threats, or spam. Other than that you could talk about anything. I was actually a mod on the AOPA board for a short time when they migrated from yellow to red.
I have no problem with transgenders doing anything or being anything. I have a big problem with them being used as symbols for wokethink.
I left the PoA board because I got sick of them supporting self righteous wokethink and censorship of anything that isn’t.

AOPA has to know that they're alienating a lot of their members by bowing to this Leftist, Woke crap. The pilot community is generally pretty conservative despite almost all the Web Boards, at least that I know about, seem to lean Left and sometimes FAR Left, aka POA and The Pilot's Place, etc.

For me it depends on AOPA's motivation. If it was to get the most qualified, best spokesperson to spread the word about aviation coolness and that person fit, then great. If it's to check some box of fake wokeness then forget it. Like needing a black female supreme court judge because it's "historic" regardless of qualifications.

And this is my biggest problem with affirmative action. It actually downgrades the very people it purports to uplift. When a minority is hired because they’re actually the best qualified, then they live under a cloud of suspicion that they were hired because of their race or gender or sexual preference or whatever. By the way, since when are women a “minority”? How can a woman owned business be considered “minority owned”?
You know it’s all fake bullshit when they refuse to acknowledge non-woke minority success. Is the left celebrating Clarence Thomas? Hell no, they’re trying to get him removed. They don’t give a fuck about blacks on the SC, they just want woke on the SC who also happen to be symbols of their anointed self righteousness as Biden CAME OUT AND SAID when he said his nominee would be a black female period end of story. Nothing about getting the best qualified which Thomas actually IS and the left fought tooth and nail to block him. Fucking hypocrites.
