Title: 1stA and The Better Mousetrap
Post by: Jaybird180 on June 09, 2020, 06:28:10 AM
I watched a video yesterday that laid out the impact of lack of ability to criticize one's government (ie China) and the adverse impact it has on innovation and problem solving. Basically it said that while China can ripoff and copy other people's stuff they don't have a mindset to make a better mousetrap because the government approves all the mousetraps, so they're an intellectually lethargic society.

I was interested in watching the video because the author claimed that 3D printing was dead but instead went on a tirade about him being flagged as inappropriate from Chinese based users (who aren't legally allowed to watch YouTube anyhow).

I talked a little about an off topic with a college and then this video got me to thinking a bit more about our combative means of pluralistic social problem solving. Yes, sometimes it's a bit messy...and yes I think we can do better with deliberative dialogue and clean hearts among reasonable people...

...I'm still working on the better mousetrap
