Spin Zone / Re: Last Man Standing
« on: October 07, 2018, 09:46:34 PM »
I don't watch network series anymore. I never paid any attention this series until it was canceled.  Watched the first new episode the other night. The opening bit was classic.

Hope the spin off of Rosanne falls flat on its face.
We did the same thing. Never noticed it until it was cancelled.  I’ve probably seen every episode in the prior 5 seasons this summer as it was on a couple networks. Outstanding show, and unapologetically conservative.

National Review has an interesting article today about suggesting that Lisa Murkowski should “Pair no” with Sen. Daines’ “Paired yes” vote, thus effectively reducing the denominator to 98, not 100.

It’s all theater now.
The communists (democrats ) don’t have the votes to block him but there is such a great opportunity to control the discussion by masturbating in public until after the confirmation is complete.
I’m not quite there being comfortable yet. I’m concerned Flake may find out that Kavanaugh actually clipped his fingernails at his office desk in 2005, which of course would render Kavanaugh unfit for office.

I would do it if I had the time. One of the benefits of having the CFI is that you can take friends, family, etc. up and let them get a taste of flying, and then give them a logbook entry with their first hour. It may be just the push they need to seek out their certificate. It's an excellent way of encouraging people to get into flying, which is something general aviation is in great need of.

Another nice benefit is you can help out friends with staying current, if that's something you're interested in doing. If they have their own planes that you haven't flown, you'll get some time in them as well.

There are plenty of ways to utilize the CFI without having to do it formally as a full or part-time instructor. In the end, it'll probably make you a better pilot regardless, so I see no downside to it.
Thanks a lot. That’s kind of how I was hoping to use it. I could also become a check pilot for the CAF.  Our Wing needs help in that area.

Seems like yet another miscalculation by McConnell. You kind of think Whip John Cornyn would have, oh I don’t know, taken attendance when he was whipping the votes for this nominee.

McConnell has been pretty good in this fight, unlike his previous work where it seemed he would rather be the minority leader.

She was a very credible witness. That doesn't mean there aren't holes or inconsistencies, though.

But you can't say that one person's statements under oath automatically erase another's simply because it fits the narrative you want. Like I said, it certainly raises questions. But we're talking about decades old things here that are very hard to prove or disprove.
Can you explain how you feel she was credible?  I’ve never heard anyone say why she made them feel that she was credible.

Was it the little girl voice and upturn after every word?  That sounded like an act to me. I can’t believe a doctor and professor and activist actually talks like a shy little 10 year old.

Fine with me. All I'm pointing out is that both sides engage in extreme partisanship, which is the theme of your thread. There are conservatives who are invested in hate as well. I've never heard of gays assaulting or killing heteros for their lifestyle, but I suppose somewhere in the vast universe of hate it may have happened. I have heard, on multiple occasions of the opposite being true. As well as taking the objections to abortion juuuuuuuuust a bit too far by murdering the doctor. Partisanship - writ large on both sides(ahem - just as Trump correctly claimed about the Charllotsville riot).
Or pro-abortion protestors giving a roundhouse kick to a pro-Life woman for the sin of being pro-life?

https://youtu.be/z7SqtIe5rZQ

And how many partisan Republicans have attempted mass murder or attempted assassination of one particular party at a softball practice?

No comparison about violence today.

Baking a cake for a gay couple = slavery.

Nice. Extreme Partisanship Statement: Proven.
ARTICLE XIII

Section 1.  Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Yes, he was in a no win situation.  No matter his demeanor, he would have been demonized by the Democrats, and the Media (same thing).
Kavanaugh responded like a man. At the end of the day, with all the man-hating and effeminate democrats talking about white male privilege, toxic masculinity, mansplaining, and all these other anti-male causes of the day, they despise a man who drank beer, lifted weights, played sports, liked girls, had buddies, farted, and when accused of the most vile charges without evidence, responded like any real man would respond.

Steingar, being a somewhat unfriendly man of slight stature (yes, I met him at a POA gathering at Jay H’s North 40 party at OSH) and bearing what one might call a short man complex, would logically despise a manly response to a challenge from a panel of bullies.

Pilot Zone / Thoughts on doing Commercial and CFI concurrently?
« on: October 04, 2018, 08:33:37 AM »
I’m working on my commercial certificate, and it was suggested that I take a couple more written exams and do my commercial and CFI simultaneously. I know it would involve two separate checkrides, and doing maneuvers from both the right and left seats.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or recommendations?

By the way, I’m a CPA and will be working for at least another 10 years. Any CFI work would be more of a hobby, not full time or even part time employment.

I was just now going to respond to the person who said it's understandable people are more afraid of prop planes than jetliners and I couldn't find the reply button and saw it wa locked. $&%#!

I was going to only talk about airplanes!!!!  God I hate that board.
I’m not sure why some of you keep going back to POA. Stockholm syndrome?

That being said, we SHOULD have more aviation content. I’ll start a thread.

Ok, WTF is going on here?  I understand that there is a police report and a medical evaluation of injuries sustained. Who gives a fuck what the Democratic Party thinks. Why wasn’t he arrested and charged?
