Can't tell if you're being sarcastic. Krishna is Hindu. Altogether a far less offensive religion than Islam.  Between Islam and Hinduism I'll take Hindu any day. But I don't like being told by ANYONE that their religion/God is "the only one" and here is how I should live. That applies to Christianity too.  I'll find God on my own thank you very much, already have in fact.

Yes, I was being sarcastic, but I also missed the reference to "Krishna".  Yeah, I don't like to be preached to either.

Almost 6 months in office. New strict constructionist supreme court judge. Border crossings way down(not so much in CA, but other border states like mine are way, way down). More deportations. Following the law as written and not making it up to suit political bias. DJIA, NASDAQ, Dow - up, up, and up(new record highs). Just inked new billion $$ sales to SA and other partners in the ME. Finally clear of the Russian thing(see the docs that Winter disclosed, admitting Russian interference but NO coop from or with Trump campaign). Out of the stupid wealth transfer scheme call a 'climate accord' which had NOTHING to do with emission reduction.

You damn right I'm on board. Do I like his idiotic tweets? No. Is he good at intl BS, and 'diplomacy'? No. Does that really matter to me? No. I'm kind of a results guy when it comes to govt functions, and so far - winning.

Here's what we have learned from the Comey hearing:

1) President Trump has never been under investigation.

2) President Trump never obstructed justice.

3) President Trump or his campaign never colluded with Russia.

4) Russia did not alter the outcome of the election.

5) Comey leaked his own memos, which are government property.

6) Loretta Lynch pressured Comey to cover for Hillary Clinton.

7) There was ample evidence to prosecute Hillary Clinton but Comey chose not to pursue it.

8 ) CNN and the other fake news outlets of the MSM have been lying and making up stories to hurt the President and his administration.

9) The liberal progressives have now lost the ability to scream "Russia!" every time they disagree with the Trump administration.

10) The Russia story is dead.

Much of it is indeed political theater, but not all of it. Trump has kept this going by his tweeting as well, which isn't helping anything. There's a string of events that are concerning in this matter, whether it's illegal or not.

What is concerning to me is that this is just not "politics".  Republicans play games too, but they don't have the media to support lies, and made up calls for impeachment like the Democrats do.  This is willful subversion of a legitimate government to the detriment of our citizens.  Look what is happening in Europe.  We are more at risk now because the Dems won't support, and the Courts won't allow the temporary travel moratorium from a few selected countries.

Alan Dershowitz has repeated over and over asking for someone, anyone to step forward and show where the President has broken any laws.  They can't because he hasn't.

And keep in mind Dershowitz is a liberal, but here he's actually putting the law first and in to play.

The liberal progressives have succeeded in one thing, they have brought DC to a standstill for six months perpetrating this massive hoax.  Tomorrow they will be ginning up a new scandal that will consume the MSM and unfortunately congress.   Our Representitives in the House and the Senate can't seem to get on with the business of the people.  They stand at an unprecedented moment in history where they could accomplish so much, they could actually fulfill their campaign promises, instead they choose to play petty politics and squander the opportunity.

Spin Zone / Re: Mike Schmidt's comments racist? Off base?

This story is local to me, but has made national news.  The media, to a large degree, is calling it racist, insensitive, and offensive.  I heard the interview real time, and thought it could have been phrased a little differently considering Schmidt is an employee of the Phillies.  However, I appreciated his honesty.  To the radio stations credit, they defended Schmidt's comment today with the host of the morning show (original interviewer) saying this PC crap has to stop, and people that are offended need to get a life.  The rest of the media said the opposite.

Racist, offensive, culturally insensitive?  What say you?

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

What he said is that Herrera does not speak English well enough to engage in discussions with his teammates about how to improve their play and the team.  I find nothing racist in that at all, in fact I need to stretch to even understand what the progressives are trying to claim and I think I still fall short.

This is like a fart.  Whoever smells it first is the source.

Language isn't an inherited trait, it is a learned one, like learning how to play baseball.
Everyone who claimed racism is showing profound stupidity. Stupid people tend to "double down" on their stupidity, so they will not now or ever say "Oops, good point, I made a mistake."

Nope, it's called "the truth".

PC Warriors have weaponized this crap against anyone who they disagree.   This whole PC culture needs to come to a screaming halt.

Problem is we now have an entire generation who was taught this crap and indoctrinated.

Tucker Carlson said pretty much exactly this tonight.

He had a guest on, I didn't get the name, might be a regular but I don't catch it much anymore, some ginger guy with a British like accent, anyway, the guy made absolute HASH out of Hillary.  I laughed out loud throughout the whole thing.  It was perfect.

Good article from the National Review talking about the new allegations about the alleged back channel.

Quote from: National Review
Most notably, the Kushner–Kislyak meeting occurred in December 2016, weeks after the election. If there had been a close working relationship between the Trump campaign and the Putin regime — a working relationship that purportedly amounted to collusion in Russia’s attempts to influence the outcome of the election — then why would it have been necessary to set up a back channel in December? The secret lines of communication would already have been up and running for months. And they would certainly have been known to Kushner, Trump’s closest adviser; apparently, despite his sparse policy résumé, the “young princeling,” as West Wing rivals have taken to describing him, has been given every portfolio, from the holy grail of Middle East peace to the reinvention of the sprawling, $4.1 trillion per annum U.S. government.

Yes, this is the same thing they did to Bush for eight years. It's really tiresome. Does the left or media have ANY critical thinking skills? Or do they just follow the same simple flow diagram leading to whatever President isn't their pick.

If a Libertarian party candidate is ever elected president, then according to that flow chart MSM news would stop entirely because they'd have entered an infinite loop.
Cool. Hopefully the flow chart is correct in that sense.

I guess I should give up on the idea of opening the little bakery that only makes fresh croissants because, you know...I'm not French.

I used to be a tough-on-crime type of conservative,
I used to be a tough-on-crime type of conservative too.  I still am though.

I agree with Jeff Sessions:  Criminals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  The problem is that we have made some things criminal that shouldn't be.  The solution to that problem is not to ignore the law but rather to change the law.

I think we need to redefine "crime".  Casual "social" drug use should be treated like alcohol use.  Distribution should be regulated like alcohol or tobacco.

Littering on the other hand, should be a felony.  As should spam (both the canned meat and the new kind) and robo calls.  Nudity though should be legal.  Punching someone that is talking on their cell phone in a movie theater should be legal.

What are some other examples of crimes that shouldn't be crimes, or actions that aren't crimes that should be?  (it's ok to be a little tongue in cheek).

Oddly, I consider myself a conservative as does almost everyone who knows me personally.  Yet here, I'm an egg-sucking liberal.  I don't really care about how I'm labeled though.  What keeps me from frequenting this forum are the same things that caused the original SZ's demise.  That opposing viewpoints aren't welcomed.  There is no witty banter or humor in counterpoints.  It's very aggressive and not enjoyable.

My best friend in college and I were very much opposites.  He's very liberal and I'm somewhat conservative, yet we had a fun game we'd play without having ever said a word to each other about it.  We would frequently play devil's advocate, taking the view the other would normally have, and we'd have fun doing it.  One example I vividly recall 30 years later is when he said no one should be allowed to make over $5M/year because no one needs more than that.  I agreed and started making points in his favor.  He then took the side of why it's an asinine idea that would rob the world of  initiative or rewarding those for going above and beyond or being absurdly creative.  Not that it ever changed our beliefs, but it was an excellent fun tool to make you think.
