(Sarcasm on)

Just can't be true. Paul Ryan is a "true conservative" and would never allow this.

arguably, that 84% overun might be less than it would have been otherwise.

An over run is an over run.  When you have these so called fiscal conservatives running the show and engaging in this kind of behavior it just goes to show it's politics as usual.

Both parties are bought and paid for, and must now service their masters.

I think you are missing the point (albeit somewhat tongue-in-cheek)

A 84% overrun is still better than an overrun of 840%.

You folks don't seem to get it yet.  The U.S. Of A. Had a good run, but the end is in site.  Both parties have stake a liking to the trappings of political office and will make sure they are taken care of, either with our tax dollars or via the lobbyists.  Enjoy what's left while you can.

I have feared a Soviet style collapse since 1990, but recently see the positive that could come from having the federal sewage system go under.

The Feds aren't going under.  We will never get states rights back.  Yes, we live in the new Soviet Union, but it isn't going away.

We won't have a collapse, but there will be so many transformations that our country will be changed enough to realistically considered a new country.

I think it's already a new country.  In my lifetime I have seen tremendous change in our society, attitudes, and government.  Things always change, but in this instance it has not been for the better.  Part of it is the tremendous growth, and overbearing power of the Federal Government.  Also, the Supreme Court, and Federal courts in general legislating illegally from the bench.

Perhaps we need a definition for "New Country". I submit that since we're still running off the old legacy that it's not new. America now is like a Windows 95 machine that's  bogged down with worms, viruses, spyware and old programs and a new "patch" further exacerbates the problem; she needs the Hard Drive wiped and OS rebuilt from scratch.

The United States was founded under a Constitution designed to grant limited powers to the Federal Government and reserve the majority of power for the States.  Over the years the Federal Government has usurped more and more power for itself and uses its new powers to hold states in line with what it wants.  Very simply put, we now live in the Federal States of America.

The sooner the collapse comes, the sooner we can begin to rebuild without the federal government intruding on everything, every thought, and every action.

That's a matter of perspective, not for me to debate here but given the states' acquiescence then you have the government the states, and by proxy the people want.
