Saw a warning sign today "Caution slippery when wet or icy"
Thank goodness that we were warned that the parking lot could be slippery when icy!
How stupid are people?

Don't get me started. On food microwave instructions: Caution, product will be hot. Give me a break.

Lawyers.

Lawyers.
Yep. I was subpoenaed once for a slip and fall case as a witness for the defendant. The plaintiff's lawyer tried every trick in the book to try to intimidate me. I laughed at him. The judge threw the case out.

The warnings are for the mouth breathers who can barely read or comprehend the words.

The warnings are the inevitable outcome of any society that has too many lawyers

There are places where water tends to accumulate, making them more likely to be icy that others. A warning isn't the wort thing. And some structures, like bridges, get icy before anything else. Again, a warning doesn't seem like the worst thing.
I suspect it's a CYA thing on the part o municipal governments. Can't sue them since the spot was marked icy. Could be wrong, just comes to mind.

Same applies to the hot food coming out of the microwave and the don't iron your shirt while you're wearing it and all the other common sense nonsense warnings we're bombarded with. Meritless lawsuits fishing for settlement money. Entities are somewhat protected by having given prior notice of potential danger. I'm sure not always, depending on the case circumstances and law in whichever state maybe (disclaimer I'm no lawyer). Loser pay system would put a stop to a lot of this bullshit.

What is very counterproductive to U.S. society is the huge industry of personal injury lawyers just stirring people to create business for themselves. The advertisements are over the top convincing people they are ENTITLED to a "large cash settlement".
We need Tort reform, and some kind of system where frivolous law suits are reduced.

But a loser pay system would also eliminate a lot of lawsuits, and put a lot of lawyers out of business. And guess which group has a huge number of people in congress, as well as which group has powerful lobbies?
What many don't realize is a huge portion of lawyers are bottom feeders. These bottom feeders thrive on frivolous lawsuits.
