So I enjoy watching various subjects on youtube. And as one could imagine, some of those topics have conservative leanings.
I went to view the feed on my iphone the other evening to see if there was anything interesting, and I was surprised to find the typical things I see in the youtube feed weren't there, but yet it was filled with MSNBC news feeds, NBC news feeds, and various leftist videos. The conservative content, plus my old westerns content, classic cars content and others had disappeared.
Apparently the Ministry of Truth was unhappy with my viewing.

I've said this before, NBC and MSNBC are owned by the evil empire COMCAST. They finance the Democrat puppets they put in office as does Google.

I watch a lot on YouTube too simply because that’s where everything is. I hate giving them the business though but for now it is what it is. Yes they are manipulating us big time. All the suggested videos align with what you historically watch (until something resets like what you just experienced). This further narrows and divides us, pushing us into dead end corners of thought.
For example, I got interested in two black commentators and watched them a lot. Suddenly ALL the suggested videos are by black people. It’s like YouTube decided I’m black, or only want to watch black people. They are also all conservative. Not a single liberal black creator have I seen. So on the one hand this supports my view that blacks are waking up and abandoning the left, but on the other hand I am aware that I’m being manipulated by YouTube. There probably are a bunch of liberal black content creators. While polls do support the fact that many blacks are leaving the woke left, the fact is that the majority still say they’ll vote Democrat. So where are all the leftist blacks in my YouTube feed?
Think about this: That is racist AF. Somehow YouTube knows the race of a creator (facial recognition no doubt) and gives me suggestions based on the race as well as the political bias. That’s racist. As it happens I’m thrilled to see so many blacks wake up, but at the same time I really resent YouTube assuming I don’t want to view a liberal point of view or any white people, ever.
I don’t know what causes the reset when your feed defaults back to general. Maybe you cleared your cache and cookies. Maybe YouTube decides to screw with your mind and present you with the opposite of what you usually watch. Who knows. What bothers me is that they manipulate it at all. I don’t want AI to determine what I like and give me similar suggestions. I want to be presented with the whole general landscape. All viewpoints and subjects: let ME decide what interests me that day.
Does your iPhone automatically update the iOS? That might have done it.

I use YouTube almost exclusively for music to stream at home and at the gym. It knows what I like so gives me other songs by the same bands or other bands similar to the ones I search. If I switch it up it will also. Kinda scary in a way.

I’m this close to getting a Faraday bag for my iPhone when I’m moving around. I wish it wasn’t such a resource, but it is. However, I reject how it tracks you even when it’s turned off.
