South Dakota becomes latest state to allow concealed handguns without permit
South Dakota has become the latest state to remove permit requirements for gun owners to carry and conceal their weapons. The state’s new Republican governor, Kristi Noem, signed SB 47 into law Thursday. The legislation permits residents to legally carry a firearm concealed on their person so long as they are allowed to possess one. The bill passed the state Senate by a 23-11 vote and the state House by a vote of 47-23, reports said. In a tweet, Noem said the new law reflects the vision of the Founding Fathers and protects Second Amendment gun rights.

Well done, Kristi!

This is great. We now have:
ME, VT, NH, WV, MS, MO, KS, ND, SD, WY, ID, AZ, AK, MT. Am I missing any?
Now this is MY kind of Governor!

Put her and Nikki Haley on a ticket and there isn't a (real) man in the country that wouldn't vote Republican.
And they say we hate women! ;)
-
And the three residents of South Dakota rejoiced! ;D

2A specifies the right to bear arms. Seems to me that's saying you have the right to carry them around with you. Unless someone wants to tell me that bearing arms meant something different in 1770 whatthefuck than it does now. Even if it did, the law is written in English and I think should be followed as written or rewritten.

And in the case of the South Dakota constitution, there are no confusing qualifiers regarding militia - it just says this:
§ 24. Right to bear arms. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the state shall not be denied.

My state Constitution says "The Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms shall NOT BE QUESTIONED". However, there is no Federal requirement to be in the Militia to keep and bear arms. It is the right of the "People", and people are individuals.

Awesome! Glad to see another state added to the list. Now if we could only get national reciprocity passed, that would be even better.
