Take the 294 loop around Chicago. All Chicago traffic sucks, but usually that's the better route. I'm leaving the Sandusky area around 5ish hoping that by the time I get to Chicago the morning commute has lessened.

Kind of! I had an uncommanded drop in RPM about 500’ AGL - from 2,650 (normal for takeoff and climb) to about 2,200 about 6 weeks ago.
I tried to duplicate it a week later and it did the same thing. Not safe to fly until I figure this one out.

I would agree with that. Technically that might be an engine problem more than the actual prop. I was picturing the prop with a big gouge in it or something.

294 is great for avoiding traffic and having a pretty direct route through Chicago. But bring lots of change. The tolls are outrageous.
When I made the drive from Southern Illinois, I would pop over to Bloomington, then 39 up to Beloit and 43 over to Milwaukee. About 20 minutes more, but avoids all the Chicago mess and cost.

The last time I went down 294 the tolls were 1.40, 0.95, 0.75, 0.75, and 1.40.
But I forgot about "toll by plate". You can just drive through and they will send a bill to the car's registered owner.

That happened to me once. The camera misread the plate and it wasn't me at all. I had to fight with TPTB to cancel the bill.

I broke my rule and went 90 through Chicago. Wasn't that bad. The loop was actually slower. I have an Ipass. Tolls come out automatically and cost half of what paying cash does.

2nd, one of my house batteries went kaput. Hopefully my new solar panels will keep the single battery charged enough to run the fridge tonight. I'm too tired to go get a new battery tonight.
3rd, my kid complained yesterday his ear hurt and was congested. Childrens tylenol before bed, he seemed fine. We got here, got to the flightline, and bam here comes the "my ear really hurts". Off to urgent care (in and out in 20 minites with meds, so that was nice). Ear infection. Should be better in a day or two.
I need a stiff drink.

When I was a tower controller at Eglin AFB the Guppy would fly in occasionally. When it took off it appeared the mains lifted off first before the nose wheels. Neat plane though.

I'm on that same facebook group. I thought it was great. People need to be thankful for the volunteers. If the gossip from one of the tram volunteers is true, there won't be trams in the future if they can't get anybody to staff them. One said that between a 1/4 to 1/2 the trams weren't in service this year because they couldn't get enough volunteer drivers, and those that do it every year are getting to old to do it anymore.

Absolutely. I know that woman. Her husband flies a T-6 for paid rides at airshows, and I think is an airline pilot. She tags along as his assistant.

I had to dress down a couple guys after they left their really young daughters in the tent with no supervision sans yours truly.
I scrambled 70 dozen eggs at the Camp Scholler breakfast, run by the EAA chapters.
And I think I found a new airplane to fly. I think.
And that tip about 294 around Chicago turned bad. I hit more traffic on 294 than there was going through Chicago, way more.

If the stars align I'll be in a non-equity partnership. I can afford half an airplane, especially one that burns only a bit of car gas and that we can fix ourselves.
That, and I did do a three week long motorcycle trip to Canada.

Had that occur once when I was working the tower at an Air Force base. Two T-38s were doing a formation takeoff, started rolling and one of the T-38s canopy came off. Actually from the tower looked like it went forward of the jet. They aborted of course.

My Flightline Ops friends who were working they location said it took two people to lift that canopy. I had no idea they were so heavy.

We saw a tram accident at the main tram terminal. Why the hell doesn't EAA expand that area. They have plenty of room. I wouldn't want to be a tram driver. Too many idiots don't know what situational awareness means and walk out into the road all the time. Then you have the idiots that just have to get on no matter what and screw it up others patiently waiting their turn.

Do you have some sort of camera / projector so they can see what you're doing? I tried to teach my niece to make a paper airplane. It did not turn out well. She must have been a very bad student ;D

Her funeral is tomorrow in Illinois. I never realized how relatively smooth the process could be with someone dying across the country and getting shipped. Still, it’s quite a process.
I think I need another summer vacation.

I carefully pick the models, my success rate is very high. Also, I make certain there are parents with the very little ones. One of my favorite classes this year was when a family of four sat down and wanted to do an Origami. I decided to make a great little bracelet, mom and the kids mad the pieces, which were really simple. Dad assembled the bracelets. Everyone had fun, and the kids got a pari of nice origami bracelets.
