Spin Zone / Re: PA Dem clean sweep

The big city Carolinas are turning Democrat. Bunch of yankees moving in.

Yep.  I lived in Charlotte from 2000-2006. I noticed it changing.

There’s a town around Raleigh by the name of Cary.  Natives call it the “Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.”

No need to worry folks.  I currently live and work in the Charlotte area and I can attest to the fact that racist, xenophobic, homophobic, illiterate southerners still dominate.   I work with several.

Interestingly enough almost the entire Seal Team Six that pulled off the execution of Osama, under the Obama Admin died in a helicopter crash.  That's not going to happen to Trump's guys.  I wonder why?

One, if you are talking about the same helicopter crash that I think you are, while many members of SEAL Team 6 were killed, none of them had participated in the bin laden mission.

Two, Trump's guys?  LMFAO!

I will say the same thing about Trump that I said about Obama when US military killed bin laden. He made a no brainer executive decision from the safe confines of DC.  All of the actual work and all of the risk was by others.  It pissed me off when all of the Obama supporters praised him and it pisses me off now that all of the Trump supporters praise him.  Neither did squat.

No, they CRAVE and are addicted to POWER.  Look at Hillary, Biden, Bernie, and all the old people in Congress.  It looks like a freaking Retirement Home in there.  Pelosi?  Lee?  Feinstein, Boxer?  Are they in the Geriatric Bridge Player's Caucus?  The Racist Elijah Cummings practically died at the podium!  I hope it is very hot where he is.

TERM LIMITS.

Oh I agree.  The old geezers need to be sent packing.  And that is regardless of party.  Trump (73) and McConnell (77) aren’t exactly spring chickens.

What I find funny is that all of you think it is the liberals, atheists, etc. on POA that do all the whining and get threads locked and people banned.  Almost all of my penalties were due to anti-Trump or anti-religion posts that I made.  Obviously some whiny little trump loving xtian cunt gets their feelings hurt over there and complains as well.  There are pussies on both sides.

Spin Zone / Re: Abuse of power in the impeachment process

Doesn't anyone here believe that both the Bidens and Trump are likely guilty of wrong doing?  I do not doubt that the Bidens were dirty in their dealings especially considering that Hunter had no special skills to earn a job paying $50k/month.  That reeks of being a payoff.  Still, no matter how dirty the Bidens were, it is unconscionable that a US president would ask a foreign leader to investigate a political rival and threaten to withhold congressional approved funds in the process.    Which concerns me the most?  Trumps wrongdoings as he is a sitting president.  However, if there is any chance that this country will elect Biden then his crimes need harder scrutiny as well.  But it needs to be investigated by US officials, not some foreign power who is having his arm twisted by the current president for political reasons.

The best way to appear to still be relevant is to stay in the news even if it means saying outrageous idiotic things.  But it seems to work for her and for others.  Some folks just can't resign themselves to fading into anonymity.

Welcome David, this is a regular haunt for me.  Skydog got his wrist slapped over on The Pilot's Place.

How so?  I must have missed that.  Which thread and post?

Spin Zone / Re: Romney
« on: October 18, 2019, 06:10:14 AM »
Here's the scenario:

Pence is removed first, which means the President must select a replacement and that replacement must be approved by the senate by a super majority.   If the President doesn't pick someone "suitable", the dems block the nominee.  Romney would be "suitable"

Then Trump is tried and removed, and..............President Romney!

Have you ever even read the 25th Amendment?  You really should before you start trying to spin conspiracy theories on how it would work.  Where the fuck do you get the idea that it requires a vote of just the Senate and that it requires a super majority?

Here is the entire text of the amendment.  Please see in particular Section 2 which is in bold.

25th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

Section 1.
In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2.
Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3.
Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4.
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Yep....
And ONLY two days after the media started talking about him running for his father’s old seat.

Seriously?  Another silly conspiracy theory that has been consistently debunked.   Also, while there were a few weak rumors at the time that Junior might be interested in the NY Senate seat but none to my knowledge of his father's old seat in Massachusetts.   Where do you get this nonsense?

Are you calling me a liar?  Call it whatever you want typo, brain fart, whatever.  I know the difference between the Senate and the House.  Why are you making it an issue?

She lost to the only person that could have possibly beaten her.  A non politician who happens to be doing a great job as President.

Not calling you a liar... I'll go with brain fart.  And I'll take you at your word that you know the difference between the two chambers though your post did not illustrate that fact.  All I had to go on when I read your post was what you wrote, which was incorrect.  I cannot read one's true knowledge into a misstatement.  But I do see too many people on online forums blaming their mistakes and misstatements on typos or auto correct when in fact, that isn't what it was.  It is a real frequent occurrence on POA.

As to Trump being the only person who could have beaten her, I disagree. I think a few if not all of the GOP primary contestants could have beaten her as well and done so by winning not only the electoral vote but the popular as well.  Hillary was the worst candidate that I have seen run for POTUS in my life.  Trump was a not so distant second.

What makes you think he is doing a great job as president?  I just don't see it.

I find this interesting that someone would set up a competing forum and then go onto another forum to poach members.

Also, he makes it clear about his “play nice” rule.  So, who is the arbiter of what “play nice” means?

Certainly you aren't bothered by the idea that POA might lose members to another site?   I know I'm not.  ;D

Both senate seats in NY have been democrat held for 40+ years.

Only 20 years. Al D'Amato, the last Republican Senator from NY left office in 1999.

It was a typo on my part, but thanks for pointing that out.  So, two elections, one as an incumbent in a solidly Democrat state when Bill still had huge political clout.  Again, not impressed, but obviously neither are you because you said you don't like her.

Why do people claim typo when they make a mistake of fact or post something that is just false in nature?  To me a typo means typographical error, i.e. a fat finger that resulted in a misspelling, typing the wrong word (their vs they're), punctuation errors, etc.

But yes, I do not like her and she is not real impressive especially when you consider what she lost to.  Still, I only think it is fair to be accurate and truthful when we desire to critique those with whom we disagree.

I don't think winning one election in a solidly Democrat district shows that anyone "knows how to win elections".

Two things very wrong with that amusing statement.

1. She won the seat twice.

2.  It was the US Senate which is a statewide election and not dependent on any single district such as a House seat is.
