Title: Amb. John Bolton on Trump

Quote
John Bolton was one of George W. Bush’s top officials and a prominent Donald Trump holdout. However, in an interview with Radio America, the former U.N. ambassador says he’s backing Trump over Hillary Clinton in November because “if the country’s not safe, everything else is secondary.”

I believe this is a binary choice,” Bolton said. “The next president will either be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, unless Hillary gets indicted. Talk about a third-party candidate, I think, is badly misplaced. The idea of not voting at all is no better because, functionally, that’s a vote for Hillary. And it may have a really harmful effect on Senate and House races where Republicans are going to be fighting hard to maintain control.”

Emphasis mine.

I think Ambassador Bolton is right about Hillary Clinton. She would absolutely be a continuation of President Obama and would be no better at foreign policy. She proved that several times, not just with Benghazi. But I disagree with him on Trump for all the reasons I've listed in previous threads. Trump would be a better president than Hillary, but the bar isn't exactly set very high there to begin with.

Apparently, some people don't understand that a person not voting for any candidate for President doesn't mean that the person can't vote for a candidate for the other offices on the ballot.

Since I didn't write the article or headline I can't for say for sure Stan but I suspect that the 'bombshell' the author was focused on was that Bolton was not a Trump guy, is/was a Bush guy, and he has come out to support Trump in the general and provided some of his reasons for doing so.

You know how headlines are written these days, kind of like how every TV show ad now says '...in a powerful new...' or some other such nonsense.

YMMV of course.

I get that. It's a pathetic tactic on Facebook in particular, and why I never link to FB sites directly, as the fluff in the "headlines" is as bad as a carnival barker, and rarely reflects the real nature of the article.

Even Megyn Kelly's show headlines every segment with "Breaking News."  It's turned into a sad caricature.

As for Bolten, I've always liked him, but he's not very popular. If Trump made him SecState, I'd take notice.
