I heard this on the radio this morning. I'm not sure who said it, but I'm sure it won't really surprise anyone here.
The vast majority of mass killings are done with Automatic Rifles
The closest mass killing with an auto that I can recall was that guy that used a bumps stock.
I assume he is thinking "AR15" is an Automatic Rifle.
-
Last night I corrected a couple of people that really did think AR stood for Automatic Rifle or Assault Rifle.
Well, I sort of corrected them. I don't remember if AR is merely Armalite or Armalite Rifle.
timeout for google... ok, apparently it's Armlatie Rifle.
-
and completely lost on people is the fact that there have been times when someone with a concealed carry stopped an attempted mass shooting.
and for the people concerned about so-called "assault weapons", compare the number of homicides comitted by people using their feet or fists to the number of homicides committed by people using a rifle of any kind.
-
I'm not sure if it was said here or elsewhere, but it bears repeating. There are 20 million ARs / "Assault rifles" out there. If there was a problem with them there would be a LOT more mass shootings. This is just the first step folks. Ban all "assault rifles". No decrease in shootings? Well, we just need to ban more and more and more until shootings go away. Except they will increase as the shootings that have been prevented by an armed citizen will no longer be prevented. Bad guys will always find a way to get guns.

Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country. And also one of the highest gun crimes statistics.
I'd be willing to bet that out of all those Chicago shootings, not one was done with a weapon that was legally obtained. Somehow criminals don't respect or follow laws.
-
Chicago had a mass shooting this weekend. 21 people were shot and 4 were killed. On Monday 15 shot 3 were killed. And the weekend before? 40 shot, 5 killed. Year to date: 657 shot, 120 killed. Where's the outrage?

Beetlejuice is the mayor. And the skin color combinations of the shootings don't follow the DCP/Media/Big Tech narrative.

I’m not from Colorado but my brother went to CU in Boulder. I’m thinking if there was ONE CITY in CO where the stoners wouldn’t be armed, it would be Boulder. This guy probably wild have been shot in any other municipality.

If one was interested in using facts, they would find that rifles are among the least chosen weapon for homicides, less than 2%.
Since 1982, just 56 of those evil black rifles have been used in mass shootings. That is 56 out of 20,000,000. Clearly it is not the rifles.

Bingo. Black on black? Nobody seems to give a shit, especially the blue mayors of these cities.

The government does not care about the citizens of our country.
-
AR-15's automatically fire a shot every time the trigger is pulled. Just like thousands of other rifles. Duh. I hate the Media and Democrat liars.

Except on the first Tuesday in November every 2 years.

Except on the first Tuesday in November every 2 years.
Even that is becoming a moot point now as they have "enhanced" the election process.

Total BS. Folks in America are shot with all kinds of firearms. There is only one item of commonality that link nearly all of them. The vast majority of firearm victims in the US are known to their assailants. Half are suicides. The incidents of malefactors shooting masses of people with assault rifles are outliers, most assault rifle owners are law-abiding citizens acting well within their rights. Indeed most firearm owners are law-abiding citizens acting responsibly within their rights. There are as many firearms in circulation in the US as there are people. If America was how the media portrays us we'd be at war.

I agree but I don’t think this conflicts with what little Joe said. I think he meant these outlier mass shootings are never with a fully automatic rifle, yet the media throws around the term “automatic”, conflating semi-auto with fully auto and of course the gen pub are too stupid to parse the difference. They see on their TV shows these scary looking “assault rifles” on full auto all the time.

Anti Gun Hollywood types love jumping on the big screen with their toy fully automatic weapons and displaying grisly murders and violence, then turn around and perpetuate these idiot talking points as if they are some kind of expert.

No. The fact is there are extremely few murders and crimes committed with ANY RIFLE. The overwhelming, vast majority of crimes committed by people using a gun are handguns. Check the FBI stats. I don't have time to post them right now. Google suppresses them also so use duckduckgo if you want to see them.

"firearm victims" - your fallacy is blaming the gun rather than the person pulling the trigger. Unless you are being disingenious.
-
Number of murder victims in the United States in 2019, by weapon used
Hand Guns: 6,368
Knives or cutting instruments: 1,476
Rifles: 364

In fact, more people are killed by being beaten or kicked to death (fist/feet) than by someone using a rifle of any kind.

It's easy and often kneejerk (and usually right) to criticize Steingar, but in this case, I don't think that is true.

In what way was my post a criticism?

Pointing out the fallacy of someone's post is a criticism.

ok. I can see where you might think that.
otoh - correcting someone's error isn't really a criticism of the person.
If you think "firearm victim" is a valid term, then we most definitely disagree.

"Military style". WTF does that mean? It looks like a military weapon? Oh, I see: "semiautomatic derivative of the assault rifles that have long been used by the American military." But let's scare the sheep a little more: "Both the AR-15 style rifle and the Ruger version fire the same small-caliber, high-velocity ammunition, which was first developed for battlefield use." Same as the .45, the 9mm, and pretty much every other caliber ammunition.
So he didn't use a rifle. He used an AR556 pistol. But let's not let the facts get in the way of a good narrative.

The 5.56 was developed from the .223, which was made for varmint hunting. Can't trust the media for shit.

Huh. I didn't know that. Looked into the history of the 5.56. Interesting how it got developed. Of course it was designed to tumble through the air to inflict the maximum damage.

[Pretend this is in green font]
Ballistics are always better when the bullet tumbles. You don’t see spirals when a kicker kicks a field goal, do you?
There. The science is settled.

And since it comes from a black rifle, it's even more deadly!!

About the only way I can stand your idiocy is inebriated.

Fake news. There were actually 769 murders in Chicago in 2020. Over two per day. Smh

Doesn't matter to the DCP/fake media/big tech types. Wrong skin color, black on black crime, Beetlejuice is mayor, etc, etc.

I have to give you credit for being the dumbest liberal I've ever known about.
Congratulations. You make maxine waters look brilliant.
