Entered the Army in WWII and spent 15 years in the Army. He was a pilot and owned a Bonanza and a 210.

He was a natural in war movies, westerns, comedies, and of course Cool Hand Luke.

You know, many of the great actors of the past were veterans, and had a good military record, and even saw combat.  I wonder how many of today's actors ever served.
