What a freaking joke. Socialism is the new mantra in this country, it's claimed another million sufferers in S America, and yet - no one in the US media pays much attention.

Lots of posts on #WalkAway from people who came to the US legally, worked hard, followed the rules, became Democrats (of course!) and are walking away from them now because they’re horrified to see the socialism creeping, nay, galloping, in as the Dems raise it up as a wondrous utopia. They know it isn’t. So there’s some hope. They usually end their testimonials saying that conservatives are the ones protecting freedoms, so they’ll get their vote henceforth.
Interestingly, a common theme also is “When the Democrats said I shouldn’t be able to defend my family with a gun, I walked away.” Lots of gun-loving Dems out there; gays too. What to do with gun-loving gays! Identity politics is a guaranteed knicker twister.

Thank goodness you agree only with the first tenet of socialist ideology!
1) There is no God. People who believe there is a God are stupid and weak.
2) Man is capable of establishing a utopian society. No authority is higher than man except the government.
3) Everyone is a victim. Poor are victims of rich, women of men, blacks of whites.
4) Rich people are evil; they are the most evil people in the world.

Huh? Where's this coming from. I never said there is no god. In fact, give me a few minutes, I could name dozens.

As for the belief angle - well, am I not allowed to have an opinion which is different than the mainstream? Or - must all belief systems be orthodoxial?
edit; BTW, can you provide some context for item #1 in any reference on socialism? I did a quick google and so far no luck.

The four points were from a #WalkAway video I watched by a woman raised up in the Communist Party of America by her Russian immigrant parents. She saw the light sometime in the 1970s, thank goodness.
I really thought you didn’t believe in the actual existence of any god. Sorry if I misread. You were pretty harsh on believers there in one thread.
Generally in socialist thinking there can be nothing more powerful than the government. The idea of God makes socialist leaders very uncomfortable. They have learned, however, that trying to snuff out God doesn’t work. But they still stand against rights coming from God, as America’s founders firmly placed in our founding documents.

Well, I read the link and the author talks about the history of Ceausescu who was a communist. Which the author equates to socialism. I happen to disagree with that linkage, but ok. As for the obscure reference to the #walkaway movement that also derives from the Russian communists, so basically the same authority.
I''m not defending the socialist manifesto, and there likely is no love between them and the god believers, but I can't say where I'm anything like a follower of any kind of socialism. Nice try anyway.
As for being hard on some christians, I'm not one to shirk away, or let some believers think they are the only game in town. We have about 800 years of christian church control in western civilization to guide us on how that turned out. There's even a name for it - the Dark Ages. Some folks postulate that islam is going through its form of Dark Ages right now, and that nations which follow the tenets of islam closely are paying the price in lack of civilized advancement. Based on what I've seen of the decline of the Persians, I would say there might be some truth to that, but we won't know until islam comes out of their 15th century thinking and joins the modern world. Given some of the teachings on inter-marriage, and the lack of any advancement in islamic culture - we might be in for another 800 year wait.
Maybe there are gods, maybe there aren't. I'm not asking anyone for suspension of belief, just that I'd like to frame debate such that there is an alternative to a theistic plan. Not too much to ask? But no - the believers consider anything not specifically oriented with their belief(christian, muslim, buddhist, etc) to be a sacrilege, which must be fought and preferably wiped out(ala the current ISIS, and Wahhabist process).
Which brings us back to your made up four pillars of socialism. If #1 is correct, then I guess I'll have to deal with being one quarter socialist. Oh well.
OBTW, remember where I got my signature material? I thought that was one of the premier put-downs on here.

Even if all socialists and communists are atheists, that doesn't mean that all atheists are socialists or communists.
