I LOVE tail wheel aircraft, but realize that most pilots aren't skilled in them.V-Tails are sexy. Even when their gear is up. I think tail draggers look dorky.

I finally examined my mission. I found that I really don't want to go anywhere. A few years ago, yes. But now I just want to fly, hang out with other old farts and talk flying, and maybe go "over there" for a $100 hamburger. That changed the whole picture.
So on the first day of OSH I closed on a 1950 170A. Polished, taildragger, coolness off the charts. It's a blast to fly. Not fast, but who cares? It's flying! I'm slowly working up my crosswind capability. Yep, love taildraggers.

I spent years of looking for my next aircraft. I looked at 182s, 182RGs, 210s, Navions, and all sorts of go-somewhere aircraft. Getting something that was good, safe, and capable of going somewhere comfortably in mind and body would be upwards of 100k. I'd need an instrument rating to make travel reasonable, and on and on. Plus the time and expense of maintaining instrument proficiency to stay safe. It was looking like a whole lot of work.

It's really hard to read and sign documents on a mobile phone with all that's going on. But it all worked out super smoothly.
I know it’s work but I love polished aircraft.

I don't think taildraggers look dorky. Looking in the rearview might be a bit scary though.
