Spin Zone / Didn't Know Where Else to Put This.....
« on: May 10, 2024, 11:56:11 AM »
There is no other place I could see to put this and it will be forgotten about soon anyway and bubble down the list.

Over on the PB we post about family stuff all the time but not so much here.

My youngest grandson, he's 17, has played soccer for years now. He plays club level soccer in a regional league and for his three years in HS has played varsity soccer.  In his Freshman year his team advanced in the state playoffs for class 6A to the semifinal round before losing. In his Sophomore year they advanced to the final but lost 3-2 in OT.  In that game they had to play the last 16 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of OT a man down.

Now as a Junior the team started off the year with a 16 game win streak. They were undefeated in region play (6-0) and lost their last game before the playoffs started 1-0 to a 7A team used as a tuneup to the playoffs. Once they were scored on the coach subbed in the second and third strings to get them playing time.

The playoffs consist of five games starting with a 32 team field, four team from each of eight regions, played over a three week period.  Last night was the championship game between my grandson's team and the HS that both of my sons attended. Out of the whole state, these two schools are less than nine miles apart.  As an aside the other finalist last year was only seven mile away.

Due to their record and a GHSA coin toss the boys got home field advantage thru the first four games, the final being played a neutral field.  The boys were also considered the home team for the final game. The game got off to a rough start. In the early part of the game my grandson was issued a yellow card that resulted in the other team getting a penalty kick.  He also had to sit out two minutes before returning to play. He plays the center back position.  About halfway into the first half, 40 minute halves, our keeper was assessed a red card when he stopped a shot, had the ball in his possession and then fell on an opposing player. It was claimed that he kneed that player in the ribs or some such.  With him ejected, the backup keeper, a freshman, entered the game and we had to play the rest of the game a man down.

As horrible as that sounds, our boy played a whale of a game and shut them out 3-0 to become the 6A State Soccer Champions.  In the their five playoff games they only allowed three goals, shutting out their last two opponents. The most goals they gave up in their twenty-two games this season was two.  Final record for the year was 21-1, an impressive season for sure.

They also finished nationally as #1 for Spring soccer.

It's worked out well for us. We have been renting space in a small strip center.  With the merge we gained a sanctuary that dates back 1910 that is debt free.  That congregation was averaging mid 20's in attendance.  We're currently doing some renovations in the sanctuary and meet at the rented space for a couple more weeks.

Hakeem Jeffries posted on X that MAGA extremists celebrate animal cruelty. I replied that he really must not follow MAGA folks because the majority were writing her political obituary.  I also reminded him that Democrats celebrate killing the unborn.

They show Trump sleeping in the courtroom and say that it's just like FJB nodding off during a meeting with some foreign leader.  But Trump is out there campaigning and holding rallies, then is forced to sit in a courtroom for eight hours for the mind-numbingly boring jury selection.  Who wouldn't fall asleep.

I still don't get why he's required to be in the courtroom.  Defendants are never required to be there.  They have the right to be there, but also the right to be elsewhere.  Power hungry judge in the pocket of the democrats.
It's called election interference. By requiring him to be there, he can't be out campaigning.

There is no "yet". You're NEVER going to have charging stations on street, nor in apartment complexes parking lots for every space. Also, building power plants and distribution takes decades or longer IF it ever happens. So still B.S.

Where do the minerals for batteries come from? They're not here, domestically.  Where are most batteries and electric car parts made? CHINA. EVs are the biggest joke since the Covid response.   ::)

Of course the two closet Leftists still push for EVs. GMAFB.
You under estimate the power of Governments to mandate things.

Government allows vaccines to be rushed to market, vaccine turns out to not be effective and/or has a lot of negative side effects, said government is footing the bill for vaccines and is attempting, through coercion, to mandate them.  One wonders why said government wants to suppress negative information.

True, but anybody with half a brain could see where we were heading.

Exactly.  This will probably hurt some feelings, but the 15th, 19th, and 26th were a mistake.
Can we add the 17th?

My youngest grandson plays soccer. He is a junior in HS this year and has played on the Varsity team since he was a Freshman. In his Freshman year the team made the 6A semi-finals before losing. Last year they made it to the final before losing in OT after playing 36 minutes a man down.

This year, they are currently 16-0 overall and finished their region play last night with a 5-3 win in OT.  The team they played last night was also 5-0 coming in to last night's game. Our boys were down 2-3 at the half and tied it up in the second half to send it to OT. They scored twice in the OT periods locking up the Region title. The three goals they gave up last night was the highest number they had given up all season.

They have two more games scheduled before the state playoffs begin on April 19th.  They are going to play two 7A teams in the next couple of weeks.   Their record should give them home field advantage in the playoffs. Hopefully they can take that last step and claim a state title this year.

It's more like, we're building a superstructure to make sure we steal the election.
