A story from this morning. We had a soccer game to attend this morning for our youngest grandson. It was across town so we left around 8:30 am with the intention of driving to the near vicinity of the field and getting some breakfast. No real local places nearby so we headed to IHOP. Pull in shortly after 9:00 and walk in. People are sitting , on all the waiting benches and there is an iPad to add your name to the waiting list. As I am adding us to the list I can easily see that half the place is empty, not a table in use. The expected seating time is 9:42 - 9:57. Not likely to work for us with fifteen minutes to travel yet and we want to be at the field by 10:45. Cracker Barrel is also nearby so we head out the door and through the windows I can see the other side of the restaurant and there are maybe six tables in use.
We drive to Cracker Barrel, park and walk in. People are milling about and we get to the host stand what appears to be a manger is taking names. She quotes me forty minutes to wait and from where I stand it looks like wholly half the restaurant is empty.
Back in the car and we end up at a McDonalds nearer to the field. Ordered on the kiosk and picked up a table tent and entered the number. The ten says they will bring out food to us when it is ready. After a few minutes I hear them calling the number on our table tent and sure enough, there sits out food at the pickup counter. I waited and bit and they called out the number again. Apparently, no one wanted to be bothered to bring our food to us.
We did win the game 2-0
