Title: SR-71 Intercepted by MiG-31

On the heels of the Brian Schull SR-71 video posted, I looked up some info about the 71 and found that their record is still shrouded in mystery.

I didn't know that they were intercepted and were at real risk of being shot down.

Interesting. Another good reason to retire and expensive, obsolete defense system. I had no idea about Mig 31 intercepts, but it doesn't surprise me one bit. Every new weapons system is eventually countered by another system, or just special tactics. I think it may well be a reason why the Air Force doesn't ever use it's F-22s. If they deployed them in a combat theater, the enemy could study and develop strategies and tactics to counter it. The less we use it, the more they have to guess.
