The WNBA is a joke, not only to men, but to most women as well.
I used to be a tax partner for an NBA team. Which is ironic because I had zero interest in the NBA, and in fact had a great deal of dislike of it. As part of becoming their audit and tax advisors, my firm at the time had to buy a suit in their arena.
Apparently, when you buy an NBA team, the NBA throws in a WNBA team for free. Literally. And of course the NBA team is required to support the WNBA team financially.
So we were given tickets to every WNBA game, and were expected to try to fill the seats for our tickets, and not let them go unused. If you ever want to get laughed at, try asking a client or prospect if he would like to go to a WNBA game. One client said “I’d rather hit myself in the head with a hammer” than go to a WNBA game.
So we basically gave them to employees, donated them to nonprofit groups, or anything we could do to get rid of them.
So sorry, Griner, when someone would rather hit themselves in the head with a hammer than go to see you play basketball, you ain’t that important.
