Are there any positives?
How about:
1) Kind of a dry-run for the possibility of an actual serious medical problem (unless we have the boy-who-cried-wolf syndrome)
2) Providing evidence that remote workers can be effective (obviously not all workers can be perform their jobs at home)
3) Some people will gain a better understanding of what essentials they should have on hand and in what quantities. (not just TP)

The funny thing is, half the country believes Trump is the tyrant and the other half believes the Democrats are trying to position themselves as the tyrant. I have my opinion which is more correct but the truth is that it doesn’t really matter. Despite Trump loosening regulations, government now is so large with such a stranglehold on us it might be irreversible no matter who is in the White House. Look what 911 brought us: TSA and all our calls being recorded by the NSA. That’s not going to be reversed, and a lot of what we get with this pandemic isn’t going to be reversed either. From now on we will be expected to imprison ourselves inside our own homes because somebody sneezed.

He/she/it then decides to make everyone "shelter in place" to slow climate warming, outlaws all internal combustion engines (except for those used by government and the political class), shuts down all "non-essential business" (gun stores, Chick Fil A, etc), then has congress pass "sweeping legislation" to begin a national income for the millions they just unemployed. Oh, and institute single payer to "help those" that are unemployed.
I could go on, but I think the picture is clear.

bah - the liberals will just ram through another "stimulus" check (aka bribe) and so many people will be happy to stay at home, protected by their decade supply of TP.

Any positives? Maybe not form the panic, but the virus will help us reduce Medicare and SS benefit payments, and reduce some of the medical costs of keeping all those old people with all those pre-existing conditions alive. Then we can use that money to pay for about .05% of the stimulus we just passed (out of panic to "do something").

I believe it is $600 a week on top of what your state gives you. In Minnesota we get 50% of wage up to a max of $740 a week. So if you make anything less then $30 an hour you would be better off on unemployment.
If you were at $29 ($1160 week) an hour Sate would pay $14.50 ($580 week) Feds give you $15 ($600 week) you now just got a $0.50 raise for sitting at home doing nothing but voting for ......
