Four presidents during my lifetime that I had genuine respect for, and GHWB was the most recent. RIP.

G.H.W. Bush was a great man and a good president.
He was a poor communicator and it cost him his re-election.
His son wasn't half the leader, a good man, but also didn't communicate very well. He also seemed to long for the press to like him so much that he let it affect his good judgement. His USSC appointments sucked.

We can certainly hope for the progressives to show some civility for the next few days and acknowledge the man and his accomplishments, his duty and love for country and most important, his love and devotion to family.
The cracks are already forming, but we can hope some would put aside politics, if just for a short time.

I was at the gym and caught pieces of CNN's and MSNBC's coverage of GWHB and from what I saw, it was not negative. It wasn't as positive as Fox, but I think it was as good as could be hoped for. But I found myself again thinking of their hypocrisy for the way they treated him when he was President (even though it wasn't as bad as the way the treated Nixon, W and now Trump).

Since Trump won, the Media now loves the Bush's because they are all anti Trump. Hypocrites all of them. They Demonized GWB constantly when he was Pres. I don't remember so much what they did to GHWB, but I doubt it was anything positive.

We visited his library at Texas A & M.
It was a great experience.

Tim almost got physically confrontational with me at a Fly In for no reason, and out of nowhere. He didn't like me from what I said in SZ. Bob Gardner is an ASS.

He was quoted a couple of times, but it looks like they finally got around to cleaning up all those posts too.

Huh. I thought I'd seen that post, or posts that quoted it, a day or two ago, and TW was still posting and did NOT have his "ejection handle pulled". I also thought it was someone else who had posted that. But that could just be my memory playing tricks on me; it's been a busy week, and I've only checked in very briefly and at odd times.
'Twould be nice if the whole board got archived every few hours, so that we could go back and examine the actual state of threads like that one before the mods step in to "rewrite history, Comrade".

Unless someone took a screenshot we’ll never know.
The pattern is clear. Remove the post, don’t allow discussion of it or any disciplinary action, ban or suspend those who fall afoul of the Ayatollah currently manning the torpedoes for that forum.
Creates fear of being sent to Siberia, and causes timidity and a tendency to stay in line.
The left thinks you need handlers. The right thinks you should be free.

I didnt get points, a time out or any warning.

Weird.
Anyway, you are more than welcome here. We have an aviation section, albeit small. Please feel free to post or start threads, maybe we can get participation up on that side. I know I would like to see some more aviation content there.

And I seriously doubt they will allow the funeral to become a campaign rally or Trump bash fest. I believe it will be dignified and show the respect a former President deserves.

Just an FYI, but I am currently on a POA vacation for posting the following deleted post on the Bush thread.
I watched the service from the time they moved the President from the Capitol until the 747 lifted off at Andrews. Not something that I am normally inclined to do. I enjoyed the eulogies immensely. 41 is my favorite POTUS of my lifetime for many varied reasons. I doubt if he’ll ever be surpassed but I do hope that we will trend back to his style of leadership and decency. Right now, I am not very optimistic.
Watching the current and former Presidents and First Ladies during the service was interesting. The Clintons and Obamas seemed to enjoy the service and all of the stories and anecdotes as well as each other’s company. Though I did not vote for either of them, I gained additional respect for them today. In comparison, President Trump seemed very uncomfortable and showed no appreciation for any of the ceremony. Just an observation.
It was deemed to be political. Personally I don’t see it. Just commenting on the personal demeanor or behavior of a few individuals is not being political just because those individuals are politicians.
