Well that's the rub. Some would say that amnesty for DACA folks is "right", because these are essentially people of our country. They grew up here, raised families here, had American kids, went to school here, served in the military here, etc.

'Lotta folks say - "but they broke the law to come here!" I actually don't find that argument especially compelling.

FBI Director James Comey held a secret Oval Office meeting with President Barack Obama two weeks before Trump’s inauguration and may have deliberately misled Congress about it, according to an email sent by National Security Advisor Susan Rice that GOP Sens. Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham partially unclassified.

The meeting — which Comey never previously disclosed to Congress — occurred in the White House on Jan. 5, 2016. It included Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Rice deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and Comey. The topic of the meeting was potential Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

By failing to inform the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about the meeting in his June 8, 2017, testimony, Comey may have deliberately and intentionally misled Congress about his interactions with the former president, especially a meeting so close to Trump entering the White House.

According to two sources familiar with the meetings, Comey told lawmakers that the FBI agents who interviewed Flynn did not believe that Flynn had lied to them, or that any inaccuracies in his answers were intentional. As a result, some of those in attendance came away with the impression that Flynn would not be charged with a crime pertaining to the January 24 interview.

Nine months later, with Comey gone and special counsel Robert Mueller in charge of the Trump-Russia investigation, Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to the FBI in that January 24 questioning.

What happened? With Flynn awaiting sentencing — that was recently delayed until at least May — some lawmakers are trying to figure out what occurred between the time Comey told Congress the FBI did not believe Flynn lied and the time, several months later, when Flynn pleaded guilty to just that.

None of those congressional investigators has an answer; they're baffled by the turn of events. But they know they find the Flynn case troubling, from start to finish.

As I said, this is how Republicans lose.

Amnesty without border reform is idiotic.  It was 40 years ago and it still is today.  Amnesty for children who have never known any other country is reasonable amnesty.

Build the wall.  Increase the penalties - make it illegal to be in the US without legal entry, make it extra bad if the person is PNG.   Increase the border control.  And then take DACA away from the Democrats and prove that they have no interest in solving the problem, they only have interest in having the problem.  For the next 50 years, Republicans get to say they are the heros.

Good strategy.  Too many fanatics will reject it, just like you all did here.

So your (all of you) solution to DACA is to fall back on law and order and deport dreamers, letting the left "prove" that the right is just mean heartless bigots who hate mexicans.

This is why Republicans lose.
