really?
Sure, President Trump really exposes the hatred festering in liberals/democrats. But is that really a quality essential for the greatest President?
President Trump is indeed acting on many of his campaign promises. But that is not necessarily a good thing (remember obama promises wrt screwing up health insurance and having zero impact on health care?)
What are the qualities that would make a President the greatest?
Wouldn't the ability to work with "the other side" be essential or at least valuable?
-
Depends on what the "other side" is working towards. How can Trump work with the side that only wants to see Trump gone?

Exactly. The “other side” is anti-Constitution, anti-freedom, and certainly anti-Republican at ALL cost.
Bob, how did it work out for Bush to reach across the aisle? They vilified him from Day1 and haven’t stopped.
If you’ve ever watched Fox carry Trump rallies, and they do it a lot, you should notice that Trump is fighting for US-the law-abiding American people. Unlike the CNN rhetoric, he is literally the uniter, and not the divider.
I’ll take THAT over any reach-across-the-aisle swamp dweller any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Reaching across the aisle isn't the only criteria (nor should it be). President Reagan did a pretty fair job of reaching across the aisle.
I understand the challenge (to put it gently) of trying to discuss/negotiate with the rabid liberals.

Did you miss all the times that Trump DID work with the other side?
They worked out a budget compromise to keep the govt from shutting down.
They worked out a compromise on the USMCA trade deal.
Trump offered several compromises on the so-called "Dreamers" protection act.
His tax cuts were a compromise. He wanted more but he settled for what he got.
I am sure others can come up with more examples.
So what more do you think he should compromise on? The second amendment maybe?

To suggest that, even in jest, means you don't know me at all.

You’re right, it’s not just “that” he keeps promises, it’s what promises he’s keeping, and particularly that they favor the “forgotten man”.
It’s always been a struggle between the ruling rich and the little person. That’s what the left uses, it’s what everyone purports to want, so to me that’s the yardstick you use. The problem with most of the left’s solutions is they end up hurting, not helping, the average person. The problem with the far right, like a dictatorship, is the same.
History has proven beyond shadow of doubt that free markets and small government create the most improvement in quality of life for most of the average free man. The things Trump does in the direction of putting money back in the hands of people, not government, and reducing regulations, and ending parasitic drains on taxpayer money (such as sealing the border, reducing foreign aid, etc.) are the things that earn him status as the greatest president, because those are the things bringing energy independence back to the U.S. and jobs and making me happier by letting me get a toilet with more water in the bowl. Happiness for the forgotten man by having freedom to choose - going back to free markets in the economy. AND breaking up the corrupt ruling class that tries to oppress that freedom!
That’s why in order to be the greatest president ever he will need to address the budget deficit because we are still kicking the can down the road, our descendants will pay the price and that’s not acceptable. Lower taxes means more revenue but that’s just one side of the equation. He truly won’t have fixed the mess our federal government has become unless he addresses the spending side of the equation too.

Well, I did see your tag line, so it was in jest.
But it does go to show how hard it is to "work with the other side" when the "other side" wants everything.
-
Here's a fallacy. The other side (dims) want to work with the republicans. Bullshit.
The democrats want the republicans to give in to whatever they want (demand). Period. And they have enough "establishment" RINO's to help them succeed most of the time.
How many times over the past 50 years have we watched the dims make promises to get "bipartisan" legislation only to turn around and burn the republicans afterwards? How many times does Lucy have to pull away the football?
The latest iteration of the democrat party is hard core leftist radicals. They want power and control over everything and are willing to go scorched earth to get it. The moderate democrats (what few are left) and scared shitless to speak up or face the wrath of the radicals.
We're in a whole new ballgame now, and it's not about bipartisanship, it's about saving our country.

The light bulb and toilet thing are wholly symbolic in nature as I don't believe and light bulb or toilet manufacturer are suddenly go back to what they were making.

Yep. Let the market decide.
My gripe is autos. We have so much government involvement in auto manufacturing that it is impossible to buy what some actually want.
I do not want tire pressure monitors. But yet I'm forced to buy them. Several other devices are now mandatory to install that I don't want.
Why can't we let the market decide? Make a basic truck or SUV without all the mandated bullshit. Let us have a real diesel engine if we want. If the market doesn't want this, it will quickly become evident.

In my state you will not pass inspection with a bad tire monitor. They are at least $100 per tire to replace. Also, the Obama Admin mandated back up cameras in all vehicles. Another unwanted, unnecessary expense. Plus I don't want all the technology that the manufacturers are forcing into new cars. Radar, and almost self driving vehicle technology are not my thing in a car, and this stuff breaks!

wrt backup cameras. Do the math on how much it will cost (over 16,000,000 cars/trucks sold in the US last year) versus how many fatalities are expected to be prevented.
The annual cost per fatality prevented is staggering.

Same with many of the "safety" items being forcibly installed.

Yep. Some friend(s) of Obama got really rich. Had to be a crony deal like Solyndra.

I'm against government mandates like this,
BUT,
if backup cameras were not mandated, I would make sure my car had the anyway. They make it really easy to back out of a parking space, or even my garage, which has a sidewalk that crosses behind my car. It may never save my life, but I'm sure it has saved me a fender-bender or two, and one time it helped me spot a kid walking behind my car that I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I think they are one of the best improvements in cars in decades.

Choice. Sometimes choice is a very good thing.
-
Backup cameras only work if people use them. Sort of like gun laws only work if criminals follow them.

I pretty much feel the same. I love the camera but not for the reason mandated.

My Jeep has roll up windows, but at least it HAS windows. The back ones are plastic though.
-
Unfortunately some people fixate on the backup camera screen and neglect to look out the other windows. The result? BANG.

Yep seen people hit stuff with the front of car doing this.
Don’t worry will will mandate something to fix that next

I love my backup camera, blind spot monitor, smart cruise control, GPS and XM radio. But none of that should be mandated.

Hey, I just push the "D" button. It has a little arrow threw it so I know it has to be going in the right direction. With ADS-B out now, I'm immune from everything. Magenta Shmagenta.
It's winter now. I had to hook up the plumbers heat tape to the leading edge of the wing again. A couple shorts, and voila!
