I've used those and still have them in the barn. Not fun for all involved.

My daughter is a large-animal vet. I cringe when she describes her work day. :)

We moved to elastics installed at tagging time (basically within a day or two of birth) for the calves on the farm where I grew up. Much cleaner than doing it like most of our neighbours at branding time with a knife.

Adams has been there quite awhile. They haven't caged him yet.

As I recall, he won a lawsuit against them for refusing to promote him due to his conservative beliefs.
That had to hurt the snowflake contingent.
