Spin Zone / Re: Family Planning

At her annual check up the doctor asks his female patient if she has any medical issues she'd like to discuss.  She demurely mentions that her husband has developed a taste for anal sex.  The doctor asks her if it isn't painful to which she replies not really.  She asks if it is at all dangerous, to which the doctor replies that it isn't but she should take care not to become pregnant.  She says no one could get pregnant doing that, to which he asks where she thinks lawyers come from.

Many, if not most public school require vaccinations even over the objection of parents, or children are not permitted to attend.

This is not really accurate, but even if it was, that is not forcible vaccination.

Spoken like a true progressive. The state is always in first place above parent's rights, no matter how often the state is proved wrong later.

Spoken like someone who types before thinking. I've said from the start that citizens aren't forcibly vaccinated and that this is the way it should be. That gives the parents the ultimate right to fail to vaccinate their children. It'll just be more difficult to function in society without the vaccinations. This is also as it should be.

My advice is to just live your life. Folks like us tend to get mired in politics and governmental and social theory, but out in the real world, things are doing alright. Some things are worse, but a great many things are better than they ever were, and when folks articulate what they believe is destroying our country, they are often simply voicing an opinion that is not shared by a large chunk of the rest of the population.

I know this is Pilot Spin and all, but no matter what anyone says, if you don't, yannow, actually vote for a candidate, you haven't voted for that candidate. The contention that abstaining or voting third party is a vote for the eventual winner is garbage. This is inarguable, and can be shown to be logically true.

But beyond that, many of us consider our one vote more than just a simple tool.  It is an affirmation of our republic and a deep honor. Using the vote is meaningful. And so, too, can not using it be meaningful.

I think the answer depends on how much zoom is on the lens. In order to adequately discuss the matter, I think it's difficult for people to first deal with how a derived answer would affect them personally- objectivity is severely compromised.

What is sorely misunderstood is that in globalism where racism is concerned, nobody gets away unaffected. We have a systematic model that pits one against the other and the competition floor is skewed in such a way that any semblance of a meritocracy is serverly crippled.

I think you are saying -- whether you mean to be or not -- that everyone the world over is racist.  If you substitute fear of the other for "racism", I think you would be correct.  Racism is, at most, as subset of fear of the outsider and the nature competition that occurs between groups.  Color of the skin might be a shorthand for the "other", it is clearly not a sina qua non, given the slaughter taking place on the tribal level in Africa, often driven by religion.  It is also not a factor when Protestants and Catholics are killing each other in Northern Ireland.

One can look at the world through the lens of epidermal pigmentation, but I am not sure where it gets one other than an excuse for whatever disappoints one harbors.

"Whatever one may think of the Donald, he has exposed not only how far out of touch our political elites are, but how insular is the audience that listens to our media elite."

This is true, but also I think he's further exposing just how much our population has dumbed-down.  And it's not just him.  It's the fact that Hillary, Sanders, Trump, etc. are even major contenders.
I have had just about fucking enough of this.

This is the problem with the discourse, I don't agree with you or whoever and I somehow must be fucking stupid.

I've got a damnned genius level IQ, tested.  I have a 22 year career in engineering and management.  I am a Commercial rated pilot with flight time in more than 40 different make/model aircraft.  I have started and purchased businesses, employed people, managed multi-million dollar programs in the aerospace and defense fields.

I have specific reasons for most of the choices I make in life, and that includes political choices.

This is what is wrong with us as a divided people - it is not just a lack of respect for people of differing opinion, it is an outright pathological compulsion to denigrate them, demean and dismiss them.  Call them names.  Insult their intelligence, to malign their education and to mock their choices with no respect for how or why they arrived there.

It calls to the worst in us and I am fucking sick and tired of it.

Hitler and the Nazi Party were socialist democrats, which is exactly what Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Bernie Sanders are, socialists, running under the banner of democrats.

The Nazi party was most certainly not made up of any Democrats. In fact the two leftist parties in Germany at that time that had "democrat" in their name, the German Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party, were sworn enemies of the Nazis and when they came to power, these democrats were either, incarcerated, beaten into submission, or fled the country . The Nazis were socialists mostly just in name although they did do some socialist things. The "nationalist" part of the name was much more accurate.

It's a pretty freewheeling' Godwin exercise that has today's democrats the same as actual Nazis. Sure you can make some sort of goofy parallel, but it's like playing 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. Meaningless.

Who would have thought that the courage to push back on FedGov would have come from the CEO of Apple?

"You know what would be better than prosecuting those who helped the San Bernardino jihadists?  Stopping them, i.e., for the Men in Black to do their goddamned jobs. An arranged marriage to a Pakistani woman who spent years doing...something...in Saudi Arabia?  Those two murderous misfits had more red flags on them than Bernie Sanders's front yard on May Day, and the best minds in American law enforcement and intelligence did precisely squat to stop their rampage. Having failed to do its job, the federal government now seeks even more power - the power to compel Apple to write code rendering the security measures in its products useless - as a reward for its failure."

I think instead of banning "assault style" weapons, we should ban "assault style" religions.
