No comments about the content of her message?

Nope. Didn't read it.

Racism is not a hot button issue with me.

I try not to be racist. That's pretty much where my involvement, and interest, ends.

Poor people often make poor decisions. Such decisions include, but are not limited to, spending money on unnecessary things such as cigarettes (or other forms of tobacco), alcohol and sometimes drugs.

Add lottery tickets to that list.

Karen and I both think it's about time to heal old wounds, and we're eager to vacation there when it becomes feasible.

Don't much care for Obama in general, but we think this is the right move at the right time.

Flame suit on!

You might recall my hypothesis that when Trump met with Bill Clinton in private, the discussion may have included ways Trump could help Hillary get elected. Not that farfetched, since Trump had donated to Hillary in the past.

There's been nothing in the dog and pony show to date that falsifies that hypothesis, and many actions that seem to support it.

Here is the best bike I've ever owned, and still own with about 82,000 miles on her...

As delivered in 1999:

After some light cosmetic enhancements:

A more major mod, details published in the BMW MOA magazine:

And, more recently, camping at an Airhead rally near Boone, NC:

About 17 years old now, but still feels solid, planted and swoopy fast - "all of one piece", as it were. Been all over the continental US and Canada.

As an aside, I think this was close to the best BMW ever. None of their current line appeals to me, mainly due to many, many reported reliability concerns. Too bad.

Been meaning to put new rubber on the bike before spring arrives and wouldn't you know it, spring arrived this past weekend with the old rubber still on the scooter.  Not again.
Enjoy the ride!

I have pretty fresh Michelin Pilot Powers on the Buell, and they felt great yesterday. At 66, I'm beginning to back off the pace a bit, comfortable at around 6/10 - I find it more enjoyable than pushing it all the time. My riding buddies yesterday were on a Yamaha FJ1300 and an Aprilia, and also seem to like a sane pace as well. Plus lots of gravel on the side roads from this winter.

Open invitation to all: ride on down/up or over any time. Have a travel trailer on our property for guests, a HandyLift and tools, and Blue Ridge Yamaha can mount tires for a decent price if you carry the wheels in. I have the ability to change tires myself, but have come to the conclusion I'd rather have someone else do it.

We have three other bikes in the stable now. Will post photos later when I'm at the computer.

Made nicer for the fact that...

...I live in and around some of the best motorcycle roads in the country...

...and it was nearly 80ยบ...

...and I was coming off a lower back sprain that had dragged on for about 5 weeks...

...and I have a fabulous little bike for this sort of thing!

Buell XB9R Firebolt that I bought new in 2003!

Not the newest or fastest or most powerful or lightest or glitziest bike in the world, but the power and torque and handling are well suited for these roads - roads I moved from S FL to N GA to be near!

Things are usually hazier in this part of the Appalachians, but today it looked like about 100 mi visibility!

Anyone else ride today or want to share their rides?

God we must all be old to get this stuff.   ;D

How old would that be in dog years?

The latest Reliable Sources podcast is promising "full coverage" of this story.

Just listened to it, and I don't think that coverage was there.

'Gimp,

Wow!

What an articulate, well reasoned post. Thanks for that.

There's an expression: "The perception is the reality".

And my post on the topic was simply answering the allegation that the Trump=Hitler was concocted by the media, solely to bring Trump down. Emphasizing the fact that I had had a similar sentiment prior to reading it elsewhere. It was, in fact, a particular speech I listened to in my car where he was mocking Bush and Kerry in a very sarcastic, bombastic manner, and it all just sounded familiar, somehow.

Admittedly, "The Rise and Fall..." is not the be all and end all chronicle of what happened there, but I trust it got the broad sweep correctly. Another gem is "Berlin Diary", also by William Shirer, outlining a small slice of what transpired in the first person as a correspondent. Well worth the read. And available somewhere online as a pdf, IIRC.

But, again, thank for your post, and I see where you're coming from. Though the "Obama=Hitler" seems like a bit of a stretch.

What is that attachment on the elevator?

Counterbalance weight, I assume.

BTW, I found another image, and there's a weight like that on the bottom as well.

...a harder row to hoe...

Thanks for using that correctly.

It's rare enough to deserve comment.

Spin Zone / Re: Romney, the real reason.
« on: March 05, 2016, 08:07:26 AM »
I'm going with my assumption that Romney was just speaking from the heart.

Maybe I'm just naive, but there you have it.

Beyond that, I think of the quote, "I did not leave the xxx party, the xxx party left me."

And right now, I feel quite alienated by all the Republican shenanigans.

I thought it was consensual

The mere fact that we get confused over which one we're talking about speaks volumes.
