Tucker Carlson showed excerpts of it, and interviewed the CEO of the Bee. The CEO said the first question he asked of Musk was “Why are you here, talking to US?” (Paraphrased)

Years ago I read an article that quoted Musk as saying he was first interested in electric cars because oil was finite - that peak oil would happen sooner than expected. But a few years later I was unable to relocate the article nor find anything to suggest Musk had believed that. Probably poor searching on my part. Anyway, Musk in the video finally confirmed that finite oil resources, not climate change, was his original motivation. Also motivated because electric cars are simpler and should be cheaper than ICE cars, once higher energy density battery chemistry was developed by the likes of John Goodenough, among others.

It was also good to see him say that while projected climate change is bad news, it is not an existential threat to humanity.

Lastly, his claim that a 1 GW nuclear plant and a solar PV plant of the same power output would have about the same area footprint is incorrect according to several sources on the net. Solar takes many times more land area.

Fossil fuels may be technically finite but in reality we are finding more all the time and improving technology to extract it. Especially domestically, we are awash in centuries of Fossil fuels and finding more daily. But the current Government wants to limit domestic extraction and production which is CRIMINAL.
