Having personally been on protective details for both Kagan and Sotomayar, Kagan was awesome. Both very nice. But even though Kagan's politics are wrong, she was for sure the more intelligent to the two, and you could tell she cared more about being a judge then a female of color judge.

If you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem. Right now, Haley is part of the problem. Drop out, stop wasting millions, get behind the candidate who has a chance of winning (if the dems don't cheat) the election.

I live in Texas. There are two kinds of "Mexicans" here.  The ones with roots, who tend to be conservative, and dislike the illegals, and the illegals, who mostly don't speak English so I don't know what they think because I don't speak Spanish. Well maybe three, the third being the gangsters.

My redneck friend from Louisiana lives in Corpus Christi. He married a 3rd generation Mexican from Los Angeles. She hates the illegals, too. She states that it is a slap in the face to all the hard work and sacrifice of her family (and others who followed the laws) that came before her to do it legally, just for now to allow anyone to come in and get everything for nothing on their part.

Gee, you put a morbidly obese woman on the cover of the swimsuit issue one year and then a tranny on the cover the next year and it hurts your business? Shocker.

I don't think she was fired.  It's my understanding that she resigned as president of havard.

She was fired behind closed doors, but publicly resigned. No way the board wasn't forcing her hand when the billionaire donors were telling them to do something about her or find someone else to get money from.

4 Jan 2024 Boston Herald has an article where Boston mayor wu is claiming that Gay had to resign because of "racial bias."

Wu is right, but not in the manner she thinks...

She was hired because she was black. She was fired because she was a liar, a cheat and a racist.

Got our 2024 calendars yesterday at a kiosk in the mall. Obama, Michelle, and Kamala Harris each had their own calendar, filled with pictures of them, and each had their ugly mug on the cover. I strategically placed WW2 warbirds calendars in front of them all.

Fantastic!

There does seem to be a growing awareness of how wacko the universities have gotten and a lot of big donors are pulling out, scaring the shit out of them, along with a trend among the young to not go to college at all. Maybe the higher education scam has peaked.

I've gotten more use out of my scuba and pilot certifications than my college degree.

Maybe when they choose the next president they will have a stronger vetting process where credentials and body of work count more than skin color, sex and other check the box qualifiers? Nah...who am I kidding?

What was the name of that movie with the aircraft carrier that goes through a time warp.

Final Countdown. I just watched it a month or so ago. It was on Prime or one of the streaming services.

One of my favorite authors is Harry Turtledove. He writes a lot of alternate history fiction. The South wins the Civil War, Germany wins WWI, etc. Fun reads with interesting twists with a lot of what ifs if history changed.

Had a few friends and family over. Everyone left by 10:00. My 6 year old made it to 11:30. Then I turned off the TV and we all went to sleep before midnight. But I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't fall back asleep.

“Sweet tooth” yeah, that’s a nice way of saying addiction.  I am to carbs what a heroin addict is to heroin. I get a huge dopamine hit, then crash and feel like shit.  I get triggered seeing pictures of birthday or wedding cakes. If I get too close to the bakery section in the store, I’m drawn in like a magnet and if my husband isn’t around I might buy a cupcake, eat it in the parking lot, and throw out the evidence before I get home.

I too feel so much better on keto but it’s like how a heroin addict’s life gets so much better when he’s clean.  The damn stuff is always calling you back.  I’ve been like this since I was a little kid but could get away with it when young. Stayed slim and no imminent diabetes but not so now.

Yep. I won't argue over sugar addiction.

I didn’t think of it as a NY resolution but I have sworn to cut out all carbs and lose the weight I gained over the holidays.  People give us carbs as gifts.  You can’t expect everybody to remember you’re eating keto.  And it’s not like I’m not going to eat the stuff.  That would be rude and unappreciative.

I love eating keto. I feel so much better when I do. I can't do it hardcore like I used to. A couple of the meds I'm on don't do well with a strict no/extremely low carb diet. One I use for my nerve issues is used off label for weight loss, and going keto with it can screw up my kidneys. Before I knew that I lost 25 pounds my first month on straight keto. It was almost scary. I am going to try to not eat excessive carbs and sugars, but this time of the year is terrible for my sweet tooth. I have 88 days until our spring break cruise, so I'm going for a 10 pound goal. Should be easy to get.

Take up a new hobby and bang the wife more. She's good with both.
