Title: Remaining Eagles uninvited to White House
Post by: bflynn on June 05, 2018, 06:22:21 AM
The few remaining Eagles who intended to attend the White House reception for the team will not attend.  Given that the overwhelming majority of the team has already uninvited themselves and refused to attend, the president made it official today and cancelled the event, replacing it instead with a reception and concert for a thousand Eagle fans.

It's a shame.  I cannot imagine how difficult it is for the president to be the bigger man when he is constantly confronted with such little minds.  Just when the NFL was starting to make progress, the Eagles have to go and screw it up again.  I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I wish New England had won.

Although I'm a football fan, sometimes I find the whole NFL thing to be quite silly. Paying these guys millions to play a backyard game, it's kind of absurd actually.

Absolutely.

I don't want to get too philosophical about this, but one distinct measure of an advanced society is the importance they put on leisure and games. This goes back well before Roman times. It was also seen in Mayan society, and other areas where the needed work to survive is completed and leisure and games take up more time.

This is not to say that we are the measure of the entire planet because we spend a lot of time and money on our diversions(including the NFL). Where things go off the rails, is where we allow, or more accurately we insist that games and diversions have some authority or moral standing in the rest of society outside of work and culture.

In the NFL still in business??

Who cares?

They are as good as gone as far as my house is concerned.

Too bad President Trump couldn’t change his mind and invite the Patriots instead of the scumbag eagles.

Who are the Eagles, what is this NFL you speak of, and why should I care?

LOL

Starting year 3 of no football - substantially happier and nice to have my time back.

Ditto. Starting year 2.5 for me, but there’s no going back, no matter how much the NFL and their hired thugs try to make it palatable.

Ok, one caveat. If the NFL begins to include the downsides of losing the game as was the case in the Roman or Mayan empires, I might just tune in again.

I enjoyed my Sunday’s last year, and I need about 55 more tailwheel hours before beginning training in a T-6.  Having Sunday’s free really helps.
