The story is a week old, but it got quoted somewhere else there's and I think there is something here that's worth sharing...

Quote from: Mike Rowe
Spend a few hours every week studying American history, human nature, and economic theory. Start with “Economics in One Lesson.” Then try Keynes. Then Hayek. Then Marx. Then Hegel. Develop a worldview that you can articulate as well as defend. Test your theory with people who disagree with you. Debate. Argue. Adjust your philosophy as necessary. Then, when the next election comes around, cast a vote for the candidate whose worldview seems most in line with your own.

This is why I'm here and I'd question each of you - do you have a worldview that you can articulate and defend?  Do you know your core belief, the one that you can trace everything else back to?  Do you have one statement that you could put in front of every belief that you have and say "Because I believe X, this is true" and trace from X to the belief?

If not - learn.  Be willing to discard what isn't right.  It's hard but you'll be better for doing it.

My core belief is that everyone is better off with the maximum amount of liberty and the minimum amount of government interference. Because I believe that freedom trumps managed democracy, I can clearly say that everything wrong with the American government can be fixed by taking the government's hands off to the maximum possible degree.
Before the trained seals from the left jump up and bullshit about how terrible the world would be without any regulation, I WILL REITERATE.
Everything that is deeply flawed in American government could be fixed by taking the boot of the government off of the throat of the people.
Free markets beget freedom.
Socialism begets serfs.
Free thought begets creativity.
Managed thoughts beget stupidity. (See the current state of American public schooling and colleges).
Free enterprise begets scientific breakthrough and vast jumps in technology. If the government had its way we would all be still driving horse drawn buggies.

Nope, that is animal abuse.  We would be walking or maybe riding bicycles.
