Living in Georgia, this has been fun to watch. It is Abrams continued attempt to make everyone feel the election was stolen from her.  Erick Erickson and Bill Crane have both explained it in detail by citing the applicable law and how the Sec State is just following the law. A group of folks did reply to the post cards and renewed their registrations. Many on the list are either deceased or have moved out of state.
Only reason I can see anyone would want them to still be on the rolls is to cheat the election.

Only if you vote once in a while.  That's why democrats, as a service to their membership, graciously assist those who are unable to vote, such as the dead.

In North Carolina, removing voters is a multi-step process.  If you do not vote for two federal election cycles, then you are send a mailing card and moved to an "inactive" status.  Inactive voters are still registered, but they are heading for being removed.  After another two cycles, the voter is removed.  So it takes between 12 and 16 years to remove a voter.  The most  common reasons for people being removed are death or moving away, both of which result in not responding to the mailing card.  There are no accounts of people showing up at the polls after 20 years and saying "what do you mean I'm not registered anymore?"

We're likely to see increasing numbers of voters removed because we're entering a time period where Democrats were making big pushes to register everyone.  There will have been a larger number of apathetic voters in that group, so there are likely to be more voters being purged now.
